Chehalis, WA with my chickens
I was doing health checks, and noticed Joy's outer toe on her right foot was bleeding. I took her up to the porch, laid her on her side on my lap, and started wiping her foot to get off all the blood and see where the blood was coming from. It is a tiny cut, less than 1/8 inch long. I applied pressure, but as soon as I take it away, more blood would gush out. We tried putting cornstarch and hydrogen peroxide on it to stop the bleeding, but that did nothing! What should we do? I'm honestly panicking because we are leaving for a trip tomorrow and will be back Sunday afternoon.

HOLD the rag on it until it stops.
1/8 of an inch, I don't have a ruler close by but that sounds extremely small.
Can you post a picture of how much blood she is loosing?

I would use the cotton, but not tying dental floss around the toe, or it could possibly cut off circulation. Even Kleenex tissue held against a bleeding wound for a few minutes while holding her and just hanging out will usually stop bleeding. The more upset she is, and the more struggling involved, the more they can bleed. I have had chickens bleed from broken blood feathers, from being pecked on the combs, and other injuries, but never had one keep on bleeding.
