need help to convert a dosage of tetracycline...anyone?

If it's the bag I think it is,




there are 280 grams in the pack and those 280 grams will make:

128 gallons of water medicated to 800mg
256 gallons of water medicated to 400mg
512 gallons of water medicated to 200mg

One gallon of water medicated to 800mg needs 2.1875 grams. It would take some effort, but one could try measuring out the bag in teaspoons and do the math.

I know that the dose for Duramycin 10 (tetracycline, not oxytetracycline)



is 1 tablespoon per gallon, so it really does depend on the the brand and the density/weight of the powder. Remember that one teaspoon of flour will not be the same weight as one teaspoon of sugar.

im trying to convert this dosage which was written on the tetracycline package for my baby chick here it is

6.4 OZ WILL MAKE:
​

100 gal containing 100 mg of tetracycline hydrochloride/gal​

50 gal containing 200 mg of tetracycline hydrochloride/gal​

25 gal containing 400 mg of tetracycline hydrochloride/gal​

12.5 gal containing 800 mg of tetracycline hydrochloride/gal​

For chickens:
=> CRD AIR SAC DISEASE: Use soluble powder in the drinking water at a drug level of 400-800 mg tetracycline hydrochloride per gallon per day.
HELP!!

One tablespoon to make one gallon at 800mg with this product.

I sure wish there was an industry standard, lol... Way too many similar products, IMO.

Is she eating?  What brand of tetracycline do you have?  The instructions are usually on the label, especially Duramycin10.  Some meds like teracycline can tast kind of bad, and giving them in a more concentrated form may make it worse.  A lot of people add a small amount of cranberry juice or red jello powder to make it more palatable and apperently vitamin C will help with absorbtion. What are you treating for?  You can also tube feed her the meds and food  if she won't drink.

She eats, only seen her drink a few times. I have Tetroxy HCA-280 aka Oxytetracycline. In a 9.87 oz bag. Sad but true I cant understand the breakdown. Im only using a 5 gallon water feeder. But to be honest, I'm really wanting to inject it directly into her myself orally....whatcha think? I mean that way I know shes getting the medicine, I know it will help just dont want to overdose her on it

Does your bag look like it has 128 teaspoons or 128 tablespoons? Do you have an empty gallon milk bottle or quart bottle?

yes that top bag is it and I cant break it down for a 5 gallon

Oops Kathy top bag is what I have I cant break it down to a 5 gallon water feeder. But im dead set on injecting it in her orally so maybs someone on here can find an answer or know how I can go about doing it that way
