**Need Help Understanding the Standard!!

My mottled Java pair are throwing chicks with yellow mottled legs AND chicks with chicks with a grayish white mottled legs(the name of the color eludes me at the moment). This is the only part of the standard I have, and I cannot find out which color legs to select FOR and which to cull AGAINST. Yellow or gray?

JAVAS

One of our older breeds of poultry, the foundation came to the US from the Far East.
It did however undergo considerable modification here despite the fact it gets its
Name from the island of Java.Both varieties, the Black and the Mottled, were admitted
To the standard in 1883 at a time when it enjoyed considerable popularity.

Shape Male

Comb: Single, moderately small, straight and upright;
Firm on head; lower in front; evenly serrated, having
Five well-defined points; fine in texture.

Beak: Stout, well-curved.

Face: Surface smooth, skin fin and soft in texture.

Eyes: Large,full,prominent.

Ear lobes; small, oblong.

Head: Medium length and breadth (see description of head
pgs. 28-29)

Neck: Medium length, arched.
Hackle--abundant.

Back: Broad its entire length, long, with a slight decline
To concave sweep near tail.
Saddle--abundant

Tail: Rather long, moderatly full and expanded, carried
At an angle of fifty-five degrees (55) above
Horizontal. (figs. 10-11)
Main tail--long, broad and overlapping.
Sickles--long and gracefully curved.

Wings: Rather large, well-folded and carried without
Drooping.
Primaries and secondary’s--Broad and overlapping
In natural order when wing is folded.

Breast: Broad, full, deep.

Body and Fluff: Body--long,broad,deep.
Fluff--Moderately full.

Legs and toes: Legs set well apart, straght when
Veiwed from front.
Lower Thighs--Medium length, large well covered
With close-fitting feathers.
Shanks--Medium lengh, stout in bone.
Toes--Four on each foot, of medium length straight
And well-spread.

Rereading it, I think they are suppose to be yellow because of this little tidbit..

No. Yellow skin is bad. It says no yellow in bottom of feet. that means no yellow anywhere.

I know you said yellow was bad, I am just double-checking!

It's an important, yet silly, question, but I need to know what to cull against. LOL

I read that wrong the first time.
Apparently there are two DQs listed here.

Yellow in any feather being one of them.

The absence of yellow on the bottom of their feet being the other.

Mottled javas are supposed to have corn yellow legs with black barring across the front.

I used to have a beautiful mottled rooster, but he passed away due to pneumonia. They due wonderful at shows if they're good quality. I was planning on getting mine a hen.

They take forever to get to full maturity though!

Under color for the Mottled Java the Standard reads...Shanks and toes: Broken leaden-blue and yellow.
