Need help, unsure what breed this duckling is [IMG heavy]

Huh, I was told a permit was needed for all Mallard derived breeds including Mallard crosses. She's 7 weeks old and almost the size of the drake. She feels like she's 4 lbs. I wish I had a scale to weight her.

Im in florida as well. I lookied into the permit and know people who have them. I was told the same. Even if it is a cross it has to have a permit because it still has mallard in it. I decided agenst the permit for the same reason. I like my privacy and do not want check ups. Plus I know someone who got the permit and 2 weeks later they took all her ducks

I have 2 indoor ducks along with my 3 outdoor. So im pretty sure they would want my indoor ducks.

Oh my God. That's terrible! I would hate for my baby to be taken away from me.

Did they say why they took away her ducks?

Thanks for the reply.

Interesting.... I can see why they want to protect the Mallards, but I am also not sure I'd want them to be coming on my property just willy-nilly

I would say it is a scovy-rouen cross!!!

She was heart broken. She was a local breeder around my area so thats why she decided to get it. She applied and then a week later they came out to check her living arrangments for them (not sure if you have read the permits instructions on duck pen and housing or not but its very strict!) and with out a word a week later they came to get them. They told her is was her pens. They said she had to many ducks living in the space she had and that since they did not have a propper run/house that she could not keep them according to the permit. In all honesty she had an amazing set up. She had an amazing set up. Each breed had their own fenced in area with quite alot of room and and kid pool in each and she used dog houses for shelter for night time and they could use them when wanted.

Edited- When she applied for the permit they told her they heardly ever do check ups unless they have a call complaining or a reason to sheck. They came with no reason and checked on her. Same with a couple others I know.

That's awful. I'll only have one duck by the time they respond and she'll be mostly indoors. They don't take away indoor ducks, do they? That would be a shame.

I would be to afraid they would. According to the permit they have to have certain outside living conditions and if they are not met they have legal right to take your ducks. Being an indoor duck you would not meet those regulations set up in the permit and there for have your ducks taken. Or at least that is how i would view it. I have choosen not to get the permit for that reason. I do not want my duckie taken away and I am afraid they would if i ever got a check up and they saw i have indoor ducks. As spoiled as they are they still do not meet the standards of the permit.

Thanks a bunch for the link, it was extremely informative! I've been looking for the caging requirements (I have my ducks in a large dog kennel that I clean every hour). Now I can get to building.
