Hello everyone, i have a chicken that has canker. I know that some of farmers use acidified copper sulfate, but i dont have it, and i cant buy anything because there are no vets in my country that are specified in chickens + most of the shops that i get recommended do not ship to my country. I have simole copper sulfate, and i have read that if you mix it with apple cider vinegar, it basically gets acidified, then you mix it with water and give it to your chickens. Again, i know that ACS isnt the medicine i should give to my chickens, its more of a preventative, but as i said, there are no vets, especially in my city, that would take care of that chicken, most people in my country just cull them if theyre sick and thats it. Im adding the pictures of copper sulfate i have, and i just wanted to ask - can i acidify it by using ACV, and will my chickens be okay? I do not want to poison them on accident. Please help!

P.S. the only antibiotic we have is doxycyclin :/ and im not sure if it would help with anything...

Since canker is a contagious protozoan disease, many chose to cull chickens with canker. It can evevtually spread to all of your poultry through contaminate drinkers and feeders. Pigeons spread it to wild bird birds and chickens. But the things used to treat it are acidified copper sulfate and metronidazole which can be hard to get without a vet prescription. It is true that you can mix copper sulfate with vinegar, citric acid, and possibly lemon juice to acidify it. It is kind of risky to use substitutions though because of using the proper dosage which is small. Do you have any access to a vet?

No i do not :/ we dont have vets in my hometown that specialize in chickens, (we dont even have a normal vet that would help a rodent pet or a parrot😮‍💨) and i dont think that my parents would like to go to a different city just for one chicken. Im not even sure if there are any vets in different cities for poultry animals...

I have read a recipe for mixing copper sulfate, but as i dont know if this is the good copper sulfate that i have, im afraid to use it (recipe said to use 1gram of copper sulfate, 1teaspoon of vinegar and 3-5liters of water)
