I'm buying more grit for my baby chicks, and they only have one brand. It's new and it says it has oyster shells for added calcium. Will this be OK to give to chicks? I thought I had heard something about too much calcium being bad for chicks, but I can't remember now. Should I wait and find another brand?

I just use playsand for my chicks. I put a pan of loose dirt mixed with sand in the brooder and when they get used to it being there they play in it, dust bathe, and eat it for grit. Works great!

I just use play sand also and have had good results. Ya calcium is a no for baby peeps.

I agree about the playsand. It works great untill they are old enough to make the switch and they love to play in it.
