Our poor duck we rescued from a farm has a bum leg. It disjoints at the knee and she falls over a lot. I really wanted to get her a knee brace so she can have a normal life but I can't find them anywhere. Wish I was more versed in 3d printing. Any ideas? Splinting it will not work as it's an old injury and will never heal. I don't want to cull the poor sweetheart.

She will stand on it then it turns inward she will wobble on it and it will bend backwards pop out of the socket and she will fall over. She gets up is fine and starts the process over again

Welcome to BYC.

Sorry to hear about your duck. Could you take a video of her walking, upload it a video platform like Youtube or Vimeo, and copy/paste the link here?

How long has she been like this?

Could you take a look at the picture below, and tell us exactly where you think the luxation keeps occurring?

Is a vet an option?

I believe the injury is on the lower part of the tibiotarsus very close to the joint. If not in the joint itself. The foot points inward most of the time showing lateral rotation and instability. The duck does not seem to be in any pain but I feel bad for her. Below is a link to a video of her.

A vet is out of the question as we don't have the extra funds at the current time unfortunately.

She has been like this since we got her a week ago. The former owner has indicated this is a long term injury meaning that splinting it will probably not heal it. If I had a 3d printer I would try to make her a support brace that allowed the knee to bend but supported the bone placement above in 2 locations (permanent splint) and below in one location. That's just spit balling though as I don't have a printer or the knowledge to make such a thing.
