Need help!

How long did you wait? And you accidentally cracked your egg as well during the hatch?

Yes I did crack her egg after she had already externally pipped. I guess what happened here wasn't exactly the same but close. I was removing the turner and putting down anti-slip shelf Liner. Her egg rolled off and landed on my metal cell phone stand. The crack was on the same side as her pip, but not the same location.

I believe I just kept a very close eye on her and made sure the membrane wasn't drying out. Once they begin zipping, I was advised to not let her stall for more than 30 minutes. Plus, her pip was just a circle. She wasn't working around the egg. The membrane was getting dried and sticking to her causing her to be unable to zip properly

I had a baby chick that had a crack on its shell . The crack was it getting ready to hatch, it hasn’t zipped or anything only popped for a little and I was opening the incubator to fill some water and my little flash light fell on the egg and cracked it. It was a very very light fall and the chick is still alive and is breathing but idk what to do. This is my first hatch and it’s the first one that started to pip. I have some others that have some pip cracks but haven’t zipped. It’s been about 7 hours and I’m starting to worry. What should I do about the crack?? Do I cover it? His beak is poking out and it looks a little wet inside. I’m stressing out hard. My humidity is 70-73 and my temp is 99-99.4
Walk away.
They can be pipped like that for 24 hours before they hatch.

Go to sleep.

Okay. I’m a lot more comfortable now. I was freaking out. I figured if it pipped itself like that. I wouldn’t be worried that much but since I caused that hole, I feel if it dies it’s my fault. But thank you guys. When should I start to worry?

Thanks for the tag, Heather!
That's great to hear she's doing well. Snd that she's a she! How are your CCL babies? Both girls still?
They're doing well. Marionette (Serama) has been laying for about a month and I've discovered she's a very Moody Broody!
Luna Petunia and Freddie (CCL's) both started laying a few days ago. Their eggs aren't blue sadly but they're a beautiful very deep/bright green! They're here thanks to your help. Thank you so much for being so amazing!
Thank you for answering the tag and helping out. I'm hoping to see some cute little hatchers on this thread soon!

Tomorrow night.

Do you think that crack will affect it? It was just a crack and now it’s a hole
Only time will tell but hopefully it won't be a problem. I feel like the extra membrane exposed caused it to dry out more quickly. I hope my experience can give you hope and let you relax a bit. Have you read over the AMAZING incubation and even more AMAZING assisted hatch threads? Intervention too early can cause death. In my opinion (I'm not that experienced with hugely successful hatches) I would try to be hands off unless it's absolutely necessary. If it becomes necessary, that article and the folks here will make all the difference in the world

They really do. I’ve had some amazing help and got my set up going because of this forum and the people on here. But yes your experience has definitely set me at ease a lot more than before. It’s my first hatch and it’s like everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong. We had a power outage for 19 hours and I was using boiling hot water in water bottles to keep the incubator warm. I was vacuuming my room and the incubator some how got unplugged for an 40 minutes to an hour, I crack my hatching egg with a pen light. I’m hoping that’s it. Now I have some experience on what not to do so hopefully that can work on my second batch that is gonna hatch in 5 days

This guide is amazing and will hopefully help you to rest easier. It explains how important it is to resist the urge to help. If assisting becomes absolutely necessary, this information will be invaluable. I can't tell you how many times I was tempted to get in there and assist but you must resist unless you are absolutely sure it's safe to do so. You've got both of the amazing ladies I tagged and their knowledge. I'm so excited for you and will be cheering for all of them to hatch and thrive!
