Need Input! Which Binding? Ready but Second-Guessing (Pics)

This table runner was backed with fabric I intended to turn to the front to bind, however, for some reason, I did not leave myself much wiggle room to do so and it will be a real chore, may not even work well. There is only a 1/2" to fold then fold again with my fumble-fingers. I do, however, have enough commercial binding of two colors to do it, but I'm not sure either would look right. Quilters/artists, tell me what you think.

I have put the green and the black on the edge as well as turned over some of the gold backing for you to see the choices. I could make binding from the gold, but I was hoping not to have to do that labor (I'm lazy about that, hence, turning the backing to the front on smaller projects, easy peasy).

The green is not an exact match for the greens in the fabrics, which tend more to the olive-y side than this light sagey-seafoam looking commercial binding, but it's not terribly off. Or is it? And the black, though I love black for visual punch, seems a bit harsh with this project.

If I have to make binding, I may be able to find an olive green in my stash that matches the greens in the fabrics if you don't like the gold, either.

Ack, help! I still may try to fold over from the back, but just in case it doesn't work....







ETA: I looked, closest green I have to the ones in the fabrics is this one, however, not enough to make binding for the entire project.

Thanks for the input, Matt, appreciate it! I love black with almost any color, but it seemed almost too harsh with this. Maybe not? Okay, then, one vote for black!

I just bought 3 yards of this fabric for a future quilt. Now, to think of how exactly to use it. Has my BRs, my Delawares and one that looks like my own Rex on there, too (1/2 Delaware, 1/2 BR) plus a Lakenvelder-looking one.

Good idea, except that I don't sew. I should have said I don't know how to use it in a quilt. I only make quilts. I know, weird to think that I can't make things with a sewing machine, but it's true. I did do quilted handbag once, but it wasn't fun at all. And if you asked me to make any type of clothing, you'd very disappointed. Will have to be some type of quilt. But don't you just love the fabric? Who used my boys as their models??? I want royalties!

ETA: The backing won't be the binding on this one. I decided I need to pull a color out of the quilt, like the olive green that runs through it or a darker gold or one of the blues, but I don't care for the lighter color of the gold on the outer edge so I trimmed it off even with the front and tomorrow when we go to Walmart to buy groceries, will see what they have that might work for the binding; that is, if I decide not to use the black Matt suggested.

Hey, I think I have enough of the blue border fabric to cut binding strips. I know it wouldn't have a true contrasting frame, but what do you quilters think? I really rather use good quality quilt fabric than the poly-cotton commercial binding if I have a choice. What say you?

ETA: Usually, I get more input, must be the holiday and everyone is just busy. That's okay, no biggie. I thank you Matt for your input but I found that I did have enough of the main border fabric to make binding so that's what I did. It's pinned on the back and as soon as it's whipstitched and signed/dated, it's ready for a new owner. I really love these fabrics. I'm not much to use blues but these are just gorgeous to me.
