thank you for the info.unfortunately my vet is gone until monday.i dont think his replacement will give me anything.she doesnt know me.ill ask my vet monday..

Great news Kyrose, I ordered Baytril from Twin City Poultry supplies, it's tablets so you'd have to crush them up. but would probably be faster getting them from the vet.

One of the great things about pred is it will make them very hungry. I hate force feeding but sometimes you get them trained to at from a syringe by just dripping it on there beaks. I use lefaber's mix which can be picked up at petsmart for about 8 bucks. It is a powder you will have to mix with water. In the beginning make it thinner than reccomended dosing as they get used to the syringe and start pecking at it make it thicker. Most of my chicks love it and will gobble it right up, because it is sweet. (yes I tasted it) You can also thin down a cooked egg yolk and put it in the syringe or plain yogurt. At this point anything is worth a try. I had one that would only eat live meal worms. Thank goodness I raise them or that could have gotten expensive.
Hang in there this is the tough part of raising pet chickens.
Good luck.

the medicine chart that came with my order says that Baytril treats, CRD, parathyphoyd, one eye colds. according to how to adminstrate it says to give 1/4 to 1/2 tablet daily for 5to8days. so i guess if you used the tablet you'd have to poke it down her throat, which if she isn't eating would probable be best anyway. How is she this morning? does she walk around at all?

hey SSS what about vitamin B12 injectable? would that give heather the boost she needs to start eating again until Kyrose can get with her vet for the liguid Baytril and the pred. just thinking about how to help in the meantime.

ok so i have some good news,i think anyway.i went to the pet store and bought some stuff called exact hand feeding formula.it says its for all baby birds.i put her polyvisol and vit.e in it.i added some sugar cause it didnt taste to good.i tried the dropper, but that didnt work so well,so i held her up and held the bowl at an angle i thought would work for her,and it did.she started eating on her own.

i was so happy.she ate quite a bit compared to not eating at all.im not sure how much of her vits. she got cause i made to much and she didnt eat it all,but at this point ill take what i can get.ill try to make less next time.i think ill up her vits. to twice a day.how many times do you think i should try to feed her? when i put her on the floor she had some energy.she pooed a big watery mess then a few soft brown round turds,so i still dont know what to think about that, but im soooo happy i got some food in her...

Good to hear you got her to eat on her own, try feeding her maybe every couple hours as much as she'll eat, this is just a guess, but at least every 2 houirs she would have something in her system.. As for the poop don't you think it's because she has had much in her stomach? I should firm up as she eats. Maybe after she eats good add a little plain yogurt to the mix and see if that helps with the pooping.
