Need some hatching buddies - Hatching May 24-28

Don't worry about it. Right before the eggs hatch the chicks absorb all the left over yolk. They can go a couple of days without feed without any problems.

I was looking at them just a few minutes ago and they look cold. they keep shivering. is that normal? it's not cold in there

Chillin..if you took them out of the brooder, then you can do what I do..I get a clean dish towel, make a circle around them with the heat lamp right over them. It keeps them together, and the circle keeps the heat in that area. Make sense? Those babies need to be warm.

Someone asked about food? And, someone said what I would say..

they are fine for a few days..just give them some water if you want. Mine will usually go over and check it out. I use the small waterer, so as not to have any drown. A lot of folks use the rocks in a waterer that is bigger so they can't get in there.

Good luck all..mine are still working at getting out. I think I may just have one out in an hr..or close to that.

I found my one and only pip this morning at 10:00. Day 19 1/2. Nothing else since then though. I think the pip MIGHT have gotten a little bigger, but no other pips.

I guess rooting for them isn't working today.

no they are still in the bator. I have 2 eggs that have pipped so I don't really want to pull them out yet. they are dry but their feathers are not fluffy. probably just lack of friction they would get like under mama hen
can they go 2 days without food? tomorow is a holiday and it will take until tuesday evening for DH to bring some home
I wonder how long it will take those 2 that have pipped. one has been at it since this evening and it's 1am the other has been at it for about half that time

Finally! I just had one hatch, and it wasn't the one I thought would hatch first..the other should come along soon..yes, this batorwatch is something else.

Think I'll go lay down for a while..I know I won't sleep well, will go check on them every now and again. This one is lively and noisy..so maybe it will get the others to get a move on. Some have been pipped since early this morning!

I had 4 hatch out of 9 yesterday but I am not sure if the rest are going to make it. I did something different this time and I don't think I will do it again. I used a egg carton to put the eggs in on day 17 so that I would have a little room for all the eggs that are in there. I know that sometime they can hatch late so I am going to give a day or so. I have 24 more mixed and I think only 18 are good but will have to candle again to make sure so I will be hatching again on the 4th of June, after that I will be done for a week or so, so I can really clean the bator up.
