Need some help FAST! Orphan 1 day old pigeons.

Pigeon just hatched out a baby today, and another egg halfway done hatching, was fine earlier then tonight she was standing as far from the nest as possible and the nest was completly wet as well as the baby and egg, Cage completly dry though, almost as if someone just dumped water on the baby, I left them alone hoping mama would take care of them, and came back over an hour later and the baby was almost dead barely moving or responding, mama still staying away (dad to) so I took them.

I took them and placed them in the bator, been about hour and half now and the baby is up and crawling around the bator and the other one is hastily working on his egg.

I have Kaytee baby cockatial/bird food, I have a tiny syringe and a big syringe, I have the TIME to do it. (hand a cockatial before so not totally unnew to this..)

But I need to know exactly HOW to do it?

I need to know, how often to feed them

How to feed them exactly

How warm do they need to be (what temps exactly?)

Best thing to use to keep them warm (In incubator, on a heating pad, box with a cloth over them?) (seen the cloth method on cockatials)

Dont bother telling me I shouldnt have took them, I wasnt going to let them die no matter how hard it might be to raise them


I just need a STEP by STEP instructions! I have looked up several things already but I want opinions on what everyone else has heard/done and what worked best

I don't have good experience with the day olds, but I use to take the black rubber part of an eye dropper, cut a hole in the top ( the rounded end if it were a hat shape) and insert a syringe through it, that way the baby could insert it's beak into the bottom end of the eye dropper and I could syringe the food into it. I believe they need feeding every hour at that age. Some people put them on a thinner towel and then place the towel on a heating pad just warm enough to keep them comfy, inside of a rubber maid container to keep off drafts.

If possible take momma and the baby in the house where you can watch them. See if she will take him back after a little while. Keep feeding him and see if she will settle and go back to him.

It kind of depends the them. i had one hen that would take care of her baby by herself, no matter where that baby was. Others could care less...... not all are good parents. Just try one thing, if not try another... wish I had better advice for you....

Havnt had nothing but bad luck outside, this is her 4th set, first 3 times rats managed to squeeze in and get them no matter what i did, Now to just worry about kittens but atleast I can kick them out of the room lol
