need some ideas for winter watering methods

Think creative, people! How about a second hand crock pot or foot bath? Goodwill sells quite cheap, set on low, there you go!

The submersible aquarium heater would work well if you have the nipple water system.

My grandparents were raising chickens in the 1920's and didn't have electricity until the REA reached their area in the 1930's. They brought water out once a day and the birds trained to the watering time. Once or twice a day would suffice and if you put a heated ceramic tile in the bottom of a rubber bucket it would stay ice free a little longer.
