The heaviest rain I have EVER seen, and I'm 24. Heavy rain started about 5:50 am this morning and by 6:30, my yard looked like this:

MORE rain is coming down now, but not nearly has heavily. I had to rescue a hen with chicks from the barn. Their broody box (a x-lg kennel) was floating in a foot of water. I was expecting the worst. I looked inside and mama and all 4 babies were swimming in about 4 inches of water... alive! I'm so proud of my little survivors. I've still got a big mess to clean up when the rain stops this weekend.

She wouldn't stay still because we were both freaking out, but here they are (Buff Orp with BB Red Pheonix chicks):

I was out in the water in my night gown and camera. Yeah, the ultimate redneck.

I also have a broody cochin that was sitting on a nest that was submerged in about 1/2" of water. I don't know if the eggs will be good or not. I will candle them next week and we'll find out. She would not budge off the nest even though she was soaked.

I didn't know chicks could swim! I just knew they were dead when I saw their pen. Mama has them almost dry now and they are under the carport with our Great Pyrenees, who thinks all the water is really fun!

Glad you're animals are ok! I hope that stuff isn't coming up this way........it should go to Texas or California where they need it.

poor lil mama's... the one with chicks and the broody one too.

what a wet mess....

Those pics are impressive.

Years ago when I lived in an apt. my neighbor pounded on my door and it was raining and I was parked on the street. When I opened the door water was up to my car door. It wouldn't start immediately so people pushed my car to higher ground where it started and I drove it up to a higher spot to park and then sat there with my feet in water at the pedals and it drained but it stunk after that like mildew.

Lots of rain can be daunting.

I pray you are given the strength to tackle what lays ahead.

hugs,
g
