Need some tips on this incubator

I had some adventures trying to keep the temp from pinging around wildly and ended up using a heat lamp in the bottom and getting a reptile thermostat to control it. But, now it's keeping it within .2degrees for the past day.

If it's convection, you have to be careful where you drill or you will spring a leak. I could see that the door didn't have any tubing judging by the hinges, so I did all of the work there. I put in a fan at the top and the bottom of the door, and a pan of water on the bottom and on the top shelf. You may need to tinker with it for a few days to get it right. Also, make sure your hygrometer is callibrated, one of mine is off by 9%, the other by 21% (ridiculous!). If you post pics I might be able to help a bit more.

I need to get a reptile thermostat today with the humidity, and then tinker with tonight and hopefully I can get it right, I didn't realize it was a still air incubator or I would have never bought it, I have heard a lot of bad things about them, I am just starting out with all this, maybe with some experience with another incubator I could eventually get this one right.

I haven't figured out how to upload the picture of it yet. As soon as I do I will post the pic.

Thanks for the info.

I too own a Precision Incubator, and have had no problem with heating....I have not tried incubating a chicken egg yet. They are manufactured by: Thermo Fisher Scientific, PO Box 649, Marietta, OH 45750 800-438-4850......I talked with a Denise Bennett and she was very helpful....good luck
