Need suggestions for nesting box roof installation

Need suggestions with attaching the nesting box roof to the coop so rain doesn't get in. See pictures below. 1st picture is the nesting box. You can see below the window, there are currently 2 gold hinges attaching the nesting box roof to the coop. There seems to be a little gap (see 2nd picture) and we are concerned rain may get inside (we live in Washington after all!). I picked up a piano hinge and hope that will eliminate the gap. Or do you think once the roof is installed it will take care of the gap?




 
From the pic looks like the edge is behind the window frame with the slope looks like should be ok just old mans opinion

a strip of roof flashing to redirect the water or rubber (my preferred choice) would be a good option. i would upgrade the hinges now though as those wont hold up to weather and will rust away rather quickly on you. Look for outdoor hinges used with gates as they will hold up much longer for you.

Will the roof flashing bend when the lid is opening and closing?
