First time. I think scissors or loppers would work best for me. I just haven't gotten myself to do it. She's drinking nutridrench when i put it on her beak. But every time i go in she is upside down. The other chicks just walk over her. Any strengthening words for me? She can't be comfortable.

Before resorting to loppers, what is your chick doing? When you say "upside down," what is she actually doing? Pictures would help. If this is wry neck (also called star-gazing) it can be treated with selenium and vitamin e, both readily available over-the-counter. If you do have to cull your chick, there's a non-graphic, yet detailed demo in the Articles forum. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Don worry. I'm not in a hurry. I need to get pictures for the hatchery any way.

When they came in she was the smallest and weakest. She was tucked down with her eyes closed. The first day and night we left them all to sleep. The next morning, everyone was up except her. She was tucked dn in the front with eyes closed. That's when we started Nutridrench and sugar water. That gave her energy but she wasn't walking very well. She wanted to be with the others but she fell and went backwards.

So this morning i went out and she looked flat. The other chicks just ran over her. I realized that she was lying on her back with her feet in the air. Her butt was cemented shut and her vent looks quite strange. I cleaned her and she even tried to give me a good peck for putting her bottom in water! Other than sugar water and nutridrench i Don t think she's eaten. She's very tiny. Was not interested in wet crumble mash.

Every time I've been out I've found her on her back with her feet in the air. This is regardless of where i left her. I don't think she's made okay but i will keep trying if she will. Pictures to follow.

When you set her upright on her belly, do her legs splay out or does she pull them up under herself to sit? When she tries to walk, can she support herself on her legs or do they not seem to hold her upright? Splayed legs are another "easy fix." I had one in my last incubator batch, and two days with a band-aid "hobble" left the little bugger as good as new.
Again, pictures would help immensely. A video would be even better (upload it YouTube, then link it in your post.) There are years worth of experience with chick problems here on BYC, but without an image, we're all just guessing in the dark.
Hang in there!

Hang in there!

I did take a few photos but need hubby to help me upload. The good thing is that edema around her vent has decreased so she looks normal ish now. She was running around normally and then an hour later she was on her back again. I’m headed out shortly to redose her.

My husband and I agree that as long as she’s trying we’ll try too.

I'm wishing you the very best of luck! :fl

If you've got 15-18$ to spare/invest poly-vi-sol iron free is great for chicks with wry neck type symptoms or muscular issues. Just a drop on the beak morning and night. It has vitamin e and B both of which can help imbalanced chicks! You'll find it in the human infant care isle of any box store or chain pharmacy.

:hugsto you!

can you put her in a little cup to hold her upright? kinda like a nest that surrounds her?
