Need to vent, having a VERY bad morning.

lol, sure you can have him, just tell me where to ship him! j/k
I like they way your thinking, I'm just gonna take it easy today and hope nothing else goes wrong!

Oh fooey! I just looked in the hatcher and I've got one "sexy brahma" out and few more pips, but the little chick is stuck upside down between the other eggs! Should I move him and leave him in there or just put it in the brooder because I'm opening the incubator any way?

I should add that I'm trying the pipe cleaners to prevent eggy bowling, geesh if its not one thing its another.

I, likewise, had an awful morning. I dont have little ones, anymore--just me and the dogs. I had neck surgery a while back and this morning I was so sore and such a headache I called in sick to work. It is freezing cold here, in Iowa, so I snuggled into my bed and slept in until 9. I took a couple of muscle relaxers and pain meds--threw a coat on over my flannel jammies and thought I could quick let my birds out of the aviary and coops and then climb back into my warm bed. No such luck. I discovered a poor Sebastopol goose had gotten into the big cattle tank we use for a waterfowl pool inside the aviary. Apparently the ramp had a coating of ice on it from birds going in and out and it had frozen. The poor goose could not get out of the pool and had just given up. When I found her, her head was draped over the edge of the pool and she lay lifeless. I scooped her out of the pool--drenching my jammies, and rushed her to the house. I blow dried her--still unsure if she was alive. Pretty soon a wing moved. I finished drying her and wrapped her in a heavy towl, put her on a heating pad in a laundry basket. She has been sitting next to me here in the living room--but she hasnt moved in over an hour. I am afraid to look. I think she died.

Needless to say, the ramp is now removed from the pool and so unless they can fly, no birds are going swimming until the weather warms! I heat the pool--but never thought about the ramp freezing.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Days like that are no fun. Try getting up on the other side of the bed tomorrow! lol

And sorry to hear about your goose Mothergoose.

mothergoose1963 how awful for you and the goose, poor girl! I just love those geese and hope to get some one day.

Update on the chick that was upside down, it still hadn't gotten turned around, so I opted to take it out, its in the brooder peeping away, but it doesn't look like it will be lonely for long, there are 4 others piping and one zipping!

Yeah, looks like it might get better today after all.

I got another little brahma hatched in there. Looks like it will be a light brahma. And now 2 of the japs are piping, they weren't supposed to hatch today though.

That sounds like the kind of day that your upset all day long. When you get a chance to sit down that evening, you think about it, and shake your head and chuckle. How could I have had all that happen in one day? But, being shorted that much in the shipment and not being marked fragile is hard to take.
