My husband ans I paid nearly 3 grand for a custom coop and run to be build to house up to 10 cochin chickens. I'm not even a month into using the coop and it's starting to fall apart!

They used staples it looks like to hold the door and trim together on the main door and the chicken hatch. I'm just devastated.. I don't see anywhere that the company has to fix anything. But I'm just.. I'm so frustrated I don't even know what to do. I can't even use the main door till I figure some way to realign it so it can open and close right.

I'm not even rough on the doors. Nothing has been. Heck my chickens are only 10 weeks old they haven't even been rough on it yet! Had I known we'd spend that much and it fall apart .. I coulda found some pallets and made a lean to in those giant kennels they sell at TS and it'd have lasted longer.

That sucks. You should see if you can sue them or something.

I don't know where you live but there are certain laws in place where I live (in the UK) that protect buyers for a specific amount of time, so the seller/builder has to rectify the issue or you can claim money back (albeit via legal methods). I would reach out to them anyway and say it's breaking already and you would like them to come back out and fix it with preferably a sturdier method to keep it from breaking in another month.

Some companies would be happy to fix it.

I agree with others that they should fix it, though I suspect they know their poor work and won't answer calls. Lawyer is going to be even more money. Next best thing is to leave reviews and help protect others.

Can you post some pics? We might be able to give ideas for cheap (as in price) fixes.

I'll get some pictures in the morning. I need them to send to the contractor anyway. They seemed surprised too. Now the door for the chickens seems to sticking like the main door so I'm glad it's in a secured run. I couldn't close the hatch all the way .w.

I hope they'll have ideas or swing by to fix it. Cause it's been fine till the doors started being wonky. I think the rain may be making the wood swell... that's my main thought on what's causing it all.

So wait. I'm confused. I understand you're frustrated that the workmanship is shoddy. I get that, but You're speaking with the contractor, who sounds like they're at least asking for more detail to figure out what to do? So, They aren't ignoring you at least? Is there any kind of warranty period stipulated in the work order? If it's only been a month, and they're communicating, it seems they're open to correcting it.

I don't have a warranty. Dumb as it sounds it didn't cross my mind. But this is also the first time we've ever dealt with a contractor. And they never said they'd fix it. They just asked for pictures. It's almost an hour drive and without a contract I don't expect or trust anyone to go out of their way after they've been paid already heh.

I can't actually get the main door open and barely got the chicken hutch closed last night. The woods swelled up and the staples are being pushed out.

Well cup half full.... It's not a pre-fab so it's not really going to fall apart. I see good materials in your pics, same as my coop. Staples are definitely a bad choice though, you're going to want to use screws and make it align (if they won't come back.) That should be it though, you're in way better shape with that coop than the tons of threads with pre-fabs....
