Needing advice re possible Mareks

Could the unsteadiness be due to vision issues as opposed to onset paralysis? Almost looks like a cataract... Is this in both eyes, or just one? Maybe see if you can check for vision loss. I think some have observed how well they are able to pick out feed from the ground and this may be a good start. Paralysis can be ruled out by seeing if she reacts to you pinching her toes while she is actively having symptoms.

Agreed, the prospect of Marek's is terrifying. Seeing your former post, I wasn't aware you'd seen something similar in another hen. If you end up losing this one too, definitely send it off for an autopsy to be sure. Was the other cloudy eye hen related to this one? Vision defects can be hereditary, but if not then I would think you're dealing with something contagious.

Its the same hen. That post was made before I noticed the unsteadiness so it was just about the eye. But am I noticing the unsteadiness because I googled the eye cloudiness and read about Mareks? She has no other symptoms...yet...I just wish I knew. Especially since I have 2 other birds in with her and 4 more to integrate that currently live in my house.
 
After doing so much research and stressing about Mareks, I am going to try and get her riboflavin/B2 levels up and cross my fingers that things get better. I noticed her take a step today with her toes curled on one foot. She is foraging like crazy in the coop and she is a smart bird so maybe she instinctually is looking for what she needs.
 
A chicken can remain asymptomatic while the virus replicates itself - up to something like 5 months. The only reason to send her off to the lab is too find out what it is if it's not Mareks. Long before you cull her or she dies she has been shedding the virus exposing the entire flock.

Mareks like AI is a community disease. When one is diagnosed with it, it's a safe assumption that all the members have been exposed to it.

Signs
  • Paralysis of legs, wings and neck.
  • Loss of weight.
  • Grey iris or irregular pupil.
  • Vision impairment.
  • The skin around feather follicles raised and roughened.
I'm afraid to say, That looks like it... :(:(:(

Lol not mareks friend I also get confused when I noticed Third Eyelid of chickens this is very protective part of eyes mainly in all animals it's visible except poor humans lol
