Negative Chicken Comments

Lol thanks everyone for the support. You would think I would be used to people making dumb comments about my animals. I get plenty of 'They are going to try and get your eyes!" comments about my pet rats. I should be used to all the crazy by now lol.

And yes having these chicks along with OCD is a HUGE deal. I remember the day my neighbor brought them I was so freaked out because two chicks were "pasting up" and it was just too much. I couldn't handle it. But then I looked up that they could DIE if I didn't suck it up and wipe the poo off their vents. and so I put some rubber gloves on (an OCD's best friend) and got to work. That really got me over my poop issue. Because I would not want chicks to die just because I have a problem with germs. Though like I said above my hands are still extremely dry and cracked because of how often I do wash my hands (though to be fair I would probley be washing my hands just as much without the chicks).

I have always found it easier to bend my rules when it comes to animals. I tend to put animal welfare before my own.

But they all really help out with my OCD and Anxiety Disorder. My Lab/Beagle has even be certified as a service dog. His purpose is to keep me calm/normal in social situations, he can sense when I am about to have a intense anxiety attack and because he can help me catch it before it becomes a full on attack I can stop myself.

But even the chickens are great for a calming influence. I love sitting with my Silkies and cuddling with them or just watching them be chickens for hours. Same with the chicks :).

When I got my first flock of eight pullets a couple years back, I was so excited and telling everyone about it. Well, unbeknownst to me, I became kind of a joke to some members of my family. At a get-together my sister in law said, "Tell us about your chickens!" And I told them all about them and how I named each one. Her sister said, "You named chickens?" And gave me this look like I'm a crazy person. She and her husband have chickens of their own for eggs but don't treat them like pets and basically made fun of me for having pet chickens and naming them. I felt like no one understood me!

I've learned to let it not get to me, though. My chickens give me so much joy I can deal with a few naysayers and their negativity!

I am glad I am not the only one constantly getting pooped on....by the way, my kids have never laughed harder!!! Some people are only on earth to make life miserable for others sometimes I think. Try not to stress those people. Their lives suck that's why they spend so much time in other peoples! (((hugs)))

By the way, my brooder is in my house. And everything is fine, and we love playing with our chickies and are. Very clean too!! :D

Thats possibly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I don't spend good money on chicks and feed and everything else so that I can put them outside to freeze to death by morning

I had 20 chicks inside in a brooder,my Daughter developed an ear infection(think she is allergic to chicks or poop) Right after i moved the chicks outside her ear cleared up. The anti-biotics didnt work till the chickens were outside.

I know that this will sound kinda mean and instigating, but i had someone make a comment like that two years ago on facebook as well. You know what I did? I posted up more photos of 'Bird and i closer yet!!!!! giving kisses, in my house, in the brooder in my living room with me cuddeling them etc. and it just made her madder. She couldnt help but look. I told her I am sorry that she doesnt approve of my ways and that she could/should just not look at my page and pictures. She couldnt stop looking, so i just put up more
.

This one drove her absolutley NUTS!!!!! I really dont approve of being an instigator, but hey, they were just honest 'Bird luv photos!!!!

um, on a bad side? I just treated my girls for an upper respiratory issue, and just went to my Dr. for bronchitus. Any relation? who knows. but i wont stop giving luvin to my babies either.

hmm...my first negative chicken comment....hmm....*thinks*....*thinks harder*....*thinks hard with eyes squeezed super tight*.....*thinks so hard head explodes*......

so, probally would be from last year when i showed my class mate Carolina my silkies foot

"EEW, IT HAS 5 TOES! AND 6 NAILS!" not sure if that would count....

LMAO, I have a rooster that has the same thing on one of his feet, and I raise naked neck frizzles and showgirls and I went to a chicken sale and swap last weekend and one lady said the featherless neck freaked her out and ran away. I hate when people tell me they look gross. I just think of them as tiny ostriches lol
