Hey folks!
I have a 6 week old chick who was hatched from my own flock (6 other chicks from same hatching, all appear unafflicted).
2-3 days ago I noticed one of the chicks resting more than the others in the grass. I noticed one eye appeared wet, and had some wet neck feather. Checked for injuries, and did not see any- the wetness on the neck appeared to be from the chick rubbing its head on it’s neck. The eye has had bubbles and the chick has had some mucus.
The chick has continued to have bubbles in the eye.
I sent a swab to local lab and results came back today negative for Coryza, MG and MS. She has some lesions around her eye that are crusty, and had some white/yellow patches on the roof of her mouth. She is eating and drinking well. I’ve had her inside in a dog crate with me the past few days. We had a hen a year or two ago that had similar symptoms and her eye infection ended up being ringworm (necropsy results) ! I’m wondering if there are any over the counter I can apply near her eye (but not in it). We have been using ophthalmic gel and Terramycin eye ointment twice daily.
Any suggestions?
