Neglected Ducks/Chickens - What to do...

Breaks my heart hearing you tried to do the right thing and your birds weren’t cared for as promised. It is so sad to think that a friend didn’t value or respect your livestock (and companions).

They will surely be happy and healthy back in your care. Give them lots of love from all of us here at BYC. Good luck on your journey and as others have said ... Remember that you did what you thought was in their best interest ... Keep moving onward and upward!

:hugs

Thank you @Soon2BChixMom @PirateGirl @Wyorp Rock
God bless the ones who were lost, it seems like you have done everything and gotten very good advice from the other member, I was just wondering if we could see pictures of the sweeties?

I didn't get a pic of my hens before my family friend took them to get them back up to par. It broke my heart... I could barely look at them knowing she was coming to rescue them. But this is Howard and his Lady in the background. This was after a deep bath earlier in the morning, some All Flock, and Nutri-Drench, eye cleanings, nare cleanings, and some leg work. I noticed cleaning him he must have been so weak he used his wings to walk... Both are raw on the tips and sore. Put some antibiotic spray on them. Wound under his eye is being cleaned up, looked like it was from packed on dirt that irritated his skin. His girlfriend had some string she got into wrapped *tight* around her leg and other than that just extremely skinny when you pick her up and touch her.

But my babies I am blessed they are home.

I would go with easily digestible things stuff you would offer a duckling. Scrambled eggs, maybe mix some flock raiser with a smaller amount of grower feed you could make it with liquid electrolyte water and let them play like it is nutrition in a puddle. I would also keep all needs close to each other. every thing in an 8x10 area should allow them to feed forage and exercise without overdoing it.

Good luck, glad they are in their loving home again.

Bless BYC and all their smart ppl willing to share info, hope, faith and prayers
