I'm with you there. I hate seeing these thread, where someone needs help and advice, be closed because other people just HAVE to argue with each other. How about we just bite our tongues and offer useful adivce instead of "omg, blah blah you are horrible.". I feel bad because then the poster usually doesn't get the help they need, and they aren't allowed to reopen it because it was closed by a mod.

OP - Have you had any luck getting ahold of the AC supervisor?

Amynbrent,in your orignal post, you say you told AC you will shoot and kill the dog if it tackles your son again, or goes after your chickens. In th same post you say you really don't want to kill the dog, its not the dogs fault.I think this is why the issue is ongoing, you need to be decisive IMO, you can't have it both ways...The fencing is not stopping the dog from getting on your land.So most likely the problem will continue. This thread has been up one side and down the other on this problem. You must just take action, nobody wants to kill the dog, no matter whos fault. You mentioned in another post here the same dog nipped your son as well as tackling him. This is not good, clearly you must protect your son first and foremost. If you can't kill the dog, get someone who can help you , get the job done.Who knows when the dog will be back and what it will do the next time.No one can blame you or say anything bad of you for protecting your boy...get some help and end this soon...

I think they've gotten lots of ideas and options, what they do with it all is the question, I think it's time to move on anyway, everything imaginable has been covered with this dog

RE: using poisons...

The simple problem with poisons is that they are indiscriminate. Unless one controls access to the poison, or guards it 24/7 to ensure that a non-target lifeform doesn't ingest it, then the use of it isn't very responsible.

I'm all for eliminating a problem by lethal means (when legal), however we need to take measures to avoid collateral damage. Usually there's a more effective way.

I skipped over the middle posts so hope I don't repeat here, but when I was married and in a different city, a neighbors dog climbed his fence then climbed our fence and when hubby went to remove him he got bit. In Ok. that required the dog to be impounded for 10 days, have rabies testing and in addition to all the costs for that, the man was fined $75 for "nuisance dog". He only paid the fees once. When the dog came home he was chained in his yard from that point on. Money talks. Here owners are responsible for their animals damage. You go to civil court to collect your costs and damages.
In this state we have dog and cat leash laws. I trap cats that come here and they go away forever. I don't advertise it. Our town is a dumping ground for unwanted animals. Our town is so fed up with it that some people deliberately run over and kill the dogs running the streets. I don't know who removes them but sometimes I'll see 3 or 4 dead dogs in one day all along the road. It's that bad, we are literally a dumping ground here. We don't have funding for AC here and AC at the county seat wants $25 per animal to take them in. SSS and be done with it I say. Poisons kill slowly and the animal suffers. A quick humane death is better.

I know that sounds contradicting...no I dont want to just shoot the dog for coming in my yard but if he gives me a reason to then of course we will. I dont want to sound like a horrible parent but all this dog has done is jumped on my son, yes he knocked him down but my son didnt see him coming and yes he chases him. We have a beagle who does the same thing, we teach our kids not to run or it makes things worse. My son is afraid of big dogs and yes dogs do sense fear. If he were agressive/violent then it would be dead If I catch the dog in my coop terrorizing my chickens then of course there is another reason. The dog has never growled or beared teeth. I'm sure it's vaccintated and licensed or AC would have removed them or fined them heavily and they were forced to do it. If we could catch them we would but again we have tried many times. My dogs have valum for long car rides and the 4th of July, I was going to drug him to make him sleepy so maybe we could catch him but it could backfire and I could be in alot of trouble. No luck with AC supervisor. I put a call in and their suppose to call me back. There is a baseball car wash and the cheif of police is suppose to be there...guess what? I will be talking to him. We live in a tiny town so it's not like this is something that will take up his time, maybe it will keep him out of the coney island and give him something to do...

Ok, w/o writing a book, my son is also afraid of the dark, bees, storms, worms, june bugs, clowns, seaweed, boats, planes, tornados, and the list goes on and on. My children are my first priority. I will protect them from what I can and they will have to outgrow the others. My children all come first. I took the proper steps in getting help to have something done with this dog and no one is doing anyting so I am going to have to do it myself. I have been driving my son to the end of the driveway for the bus to avoid the dog, no we shouldnt have to live like this. I was told I could not shoot unless the dog was doing something.I can not just shoot him for being in my yard. Now I have to wait and see, he chases him again the gun is loaded and ready!

Your son is afraid to walk down your driveway to the school bus, so you drive him down the driveway in your car...hmmmmm....You said in your last post, your going to wait and see.All of the warning signs are here, hello...?? I'm out of this thread, this is crazy.Prayers for your son...
