I love my dogs, but if MY dogs are barking it is MY problem. I will remove them from the situation or put the shock collar on. That is usually all we have to do. My boxer knows when he is wearing it that he is NOT in control.

You have every right to let your chickens go where you want in your yard. She needs to make the changes for HER dog.

Offer to dial animal control for her, obviously with all the work she does, her fingers are broken. Maybe they can issue a citation for the barking dog. If this does not help ease her mind, you can look up the cheapest prices for a bark collar and toss them over the fence.

You are being to nice! If a car were to drive down the road, and your dog were to bark at it, would that be the driver of the cars fault? Of course not. Same with your chickens! If her dog is barking at your pets on your property.....not your problem!

Her barking dog is her problem, not yours

Lets say you didn't have chickens, but your own dog...or a cat...or a rabbit in a hutch. Is it YOUR fault if her stupid dog barks its fool head off? NO! Does it bark like mad when you are in the back yard?

This has worked for me twice on two different dogs and two different yards. I am still using it. DO NOT TELL THE NEIGHBOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

I use Cayenne Pepper at the base of the fence. This is "sniff" high for most dogs. It does not hurt the dog...but the little buggers will not go near the fence anymore. If they are not near the fence, they get bored and so there is nothing to bark at.

This method has kept two dogs from hitting and barking at the fences. I am happy. You will need to renew the Cayenne on occasion and this will not hurt the chickens.

You are such a wise woman.

buy a cat and let it loose, then i bet she'd have a bit more to fuss about.

my dogs bark at my cat and i ve had Both for three years! and if the rooster crows, my dogs bark, if the wind blows improperly, my dogs bark. if i dont want to hear them barking i put them in their crates and sit the water bottle right where they can see it, THAT is about the ONLY thing that stops the idiots. heck my dogs bark when my neighbors Come Home! should i run over there and say, "sorry but you cant use YOUR driveway anymore, it makes my dogs bark, and i dont like it" ??

YOU are a very Compassionate neighbor! i as well wouldve looked at her like she was nuts, seriously that is kinda Crazy to say....
you can live next to me anytime (as long as you dont mind my dogs barking at your ckickens, LOL)

i dont think you should have to do anything if your chickens are on your property there is not a darn thing she can do about it its her dog barking causing the problem thus she needs to come up with a solution. her dog is barking at something in your yard she really has not right to complain. personally ide tell her that she need to keep that dog quiet or ill let animal control handle it.
