Neighbor filed a warrant against me after she saw me with a camera yesterday!

Maybe I should call animal control and report a dog closed up in their detached garage or something.

What county are you in? Bing maps said your 'neighbor' is in Bedford county are you?

If so it sounds like they are clearly violating the Bedford County noise ordinance, IMO it's a black and white violation as clear as day...

So if you are in Bedford County print out that ordinance and call the po-po every time they turn on that radio, and again if the responding officer doesn't take your complaint serious go to the Chief of Police and have a chat, if he doesn't take is serious hire a lawyer ( <~ Advisable) and file a formal complaint with the States Attorney's office against your local police department...

I just saw this...... I feel so sorry for you! If this happened to me I don't know what I do....... This happened to a friend of mine with the loud music.... eventually they set their dogs on them while free ranging! It killed all but 5 roosters and 1 hen. Just like @RJSorensen , Be the bigger person! Don't budge! I hope your situation works out!

I have all this information, too. I had to read up on it because this is what they took me to court on June 25, . Ironic since they were using the fog horn and loud music along with their rock throwing, before the case. Yes, I'm in Bedford County and the Noise Ordinance does not apply to livestock which my chickens are classified as. I discussed this with the Bedford County Zoning Department and I can have as many roosters, etc. as I like being agricultural. I've taken into account all the setback requirements and I am fine. Yes, I do think it is time the police do something besides talk with them and take down my information. I really appreciate your support.

I think I will get in touch with the Chief of Police and see how that goes. I was thinking of calling a few of the deputies that came out here and updating them as well....if that would do any good. One in particular, thought I was the problem and that all I had to do was get rid of everything or move them deep into the woods where I could not see them and had to work standing on my head on the slope! He witnessed the amplified music and told them to turn it down and the wife admitted she was doing it to irritate me. I guess I can keep wasting tax dollars until one of these deputies does his job?

I am so sorry for your friend's losses. Dogs can be such predators. I've had two this year from surrounding neighbors...sweet dogs, but loved to kill chickens. Eventually, the neighbors did something with them.

I am never relaxed anymore in my own yard, because I never know what they will do next. I am becoming a nervous wreck, literally. They've removed some of the boards on the fence to keep an eye on me whenever I am out there. I have so much to do that I can't imagine monitoring a situation like mine. I hear their car horn going off now and I bet it's deliberate. Yet, I am the one that is yelled at repeatedly that I am the god......n f......g ******* neighbor.

Thank you so much for your support.

If I where you I would start taking these complaints up the police chain of command. Its really similar to the military and eventually you will talk to someone who cares and if there chief does nothing but brush you off you're town mayor would be interested in why his law enforcement is doing nothing about this. Calling officers to you're house fixes it temporarily but they are clearly violating the law if and you uave been mpre than reasonable. You just have to be relentless in "bothering" the higher comand of the police force. One saying I always told my soldiers is "the squeaky wheel gets oiled"

Very good points here.

There is a big part of me that feels empathy for their misery. This is purely vengeful anger on their part and I am not stooping to their level, but I will pursue this on the legal front. I never thought of sharing this with the mayor. We'll see how the Chief of Police responds first.

I wish I could tell them...their happiness is not conditioned by what's happening out there. I hear trains, planes, this awful Hardy Road traffic, beagles, gun range nearby, other neighbors enjoying themselves with music, etc. and it does not bother me in the least. There will always be someone or something that will push your buttons, but if you come from a place of peace it will not affect you as much. I have given up my noisy roos, but they still hear that song in their heads. So sad.

Rambling here..........

Not that it's uncommon, but I always find it disturbing when patrol officers exhibit a flagrant disregard for the law and disregard enforcement of the law when there is a legitimate and substantiated claim that is in clear violation of the law... If an officer came over and heard the music in violation of the law, and then after talking to said neighbor discovered that it was indeed being used to annoy with no other purpose, he/she should have laid down the law right then and there... I'm not suggesting he/she should have arrested the neighbor right then and there, but he should have been very upfront issued at minimum a verbal warning to said neighbor that their actions will not be tolerated and if receive another complaint charges will be leveled for each future occurrence...

The fact the officers have neglected to do their job, for reasons unknown but could be speculated as being too lazy to honor their pledge and oath, is disturbing...

But, from experience I have found that no one likes to be 'snitched' upon to their superiors, as one 'snitch' can tarnish a bunch of brown noise actions... Generally as soon as you start to take the complaint up the line things happen, or at least has been my experience... Chances are real good the Chief of Police will almost certainly take action before he lets the blame potentially fall on his/her shoulders as you take it to the next level above him...

In addition to calling the mayor, don't forget you have other locally elected officials like your county board as well as State (not to be confused with your Federal counterparts) Senators and Representatives you can contact as well... For example, there has been HUGE issue in Illinois with the State police failing to issue FOID (Firearms Identification Cards) in the time period mandated under law... When you call them you can expect to wait on hold for hours to be told "We are behind, we will get to it when we get to it" to be blunt they flat out have been ignoring the their obligation to get it out as the law dictates... Well many of us found out that if you call your Representative or Senator PRESTO just like magic your FOID shows up within 2 days, sad but true...

I posted a long time ago, giving the neighbors the benefit of the doubt. I'm sorry to hear this is still going on and that these people are obviously a special kind of insane. They sound like immature bullies. I don't suggest stooping to their level, but there are multiple things you can do to send them the message that their behavior won't be tolerated.

-- Move the chicken coop a few feet back from the property line if you are able to (to get away from the mothballs and also to force your neighbors to step over the property line if they want to mess with your chickens)
-- Tack up numerous NO TRESPASSING signs
-- Pick up a game cam or 2 to cover your coop and property line
-- buy locks for your coop if you don't have them already
-- Have a free consultation with a lawyer so you know your options (a simple 'cease and desist' letter for harassment sent from a legal office might scare the pants off them)
-- Call the police each and every time they violate the noise ordinance - find out how much money your neighbors should be getting fined for violating the noise ordinance and request that the cops actually enforce it next time.
-- Call home/property security businesses in your area and have them come out for a free consultation with you while your neighbors are home
-- If the cops refuse to enforce a law, and you are 100% sure there is nothing tying their hands from enforcing it, write your local paper
-- Go buy a gun and clean it in your front yard (ok maybe not this one)

I have skimmed through this hope I didn't miss anything but If I were you I would move my coop as far away from those neighbors as I could. I would make make sure my birds were as secure as possible. And on that side of my property I would plant very fast growing shrubs or something that grows tall and bushy fast! I would ignore them as much as possible. Because the more you stir the poop the worse it stinks!
Or start building a wall with all the stones they throw over and see how tall it gets!
