Tomorrow will be an interesting day. Tonight DH and I were in between our chicken fence and our wood fence marking the spots where our two new evergreen trees will go. They will be planted just in the right spots so they will grow and block the awful lights on Crazy Lady's house. Our 3 dogs were joyfully running back and forth with us. Lots to sniff as they are never allowed in there. Then what do I hear but Crazy Lady, "Listen they're right there!" Unfortunately the plastic fence does not block her voice anymore. I think this was the first time in a month I heard her voice clearly. It sounded panicked and crazy.
After DH and I marked the spots for the evergreens we marked the spots for the plants near the road. I took great pleasure in spray painting a large orange "B" on the ground near the end of our fence. "B" for the White Birch tree we will plant of course. It was one of my dad's favorite trees.
I really love evergreens. They are colorful in the winter when everything else is grey and dead. Crazy Lady hates evergreens. In the past she made a point of telling me how ugly the ten or so varieties I have all around my yard are.
So in addition to the white birch and the two large evergreens, I picked up a few more evergreens. A Juniper, with a gnarled trunk and beautiful blue needles. 4 feet high... almost the last thing Crazy Lady will see before she pulls out her driveway. The last thing she will see is a small group of evergreens-just 2 feet tall planted in a cute little group. Located just in the right spot so I will no longer see her orange property line marker or her stupid signs. I really, really, do love evergreens.
