Hello. I found this forum looking for answers to a question about the wet tail feathers of the young goslings we have in the neighborhood. We have several families of Canadian Geese with various numbers of goslings. I see the families with goslings numbers ranging from 1 - 8 which is better than some years.
Lately in some of the families, we have baby goslings with wet tail feathers. Yesterday my neighbor found one of the young birds that was probably 2 months old, dead with no sign of external injuries. There are probably 12-15 families in the neighborhood with 3 large sized retention ponds and 4 or 5 acres of homes and townhomes.
Only a couple of families have goslings with the wet tail feathers. I was wondering if the death could be related to some illness causing the wet tail feathers and if there is something I could do to help rectify the problem. Any advice appreciated. I have read about diet but have no idea what people in the neighborhood would be throwing out. We have tried to spread the word that white bread is bad forthe goslings but I am sure they receive it on occasion.
Any assistance appreciated. Lovely forum here.
