Neighbors dog issue..

I am surprised nobody has made the "shoot it with a paint ball gun" suggestion. I normally don't think much of that approach, but in your specific case it might work? The other suggestion I have it to catch it and take it to the nearest pound.....and then remain silient. Your neighbor will either locate their dog at the pound and have to pay to get it back or will just blow it off and not do anything. The dog will be gone, and it could be for good, so I don't know how you would feel about that?

I've read a lot of your posts (good posts too!) and have the feeling you would not just SSS on a neighbors dog, but that is what I would do. I live out in the country though and we have that right if a dog is harassing our livestock.

In my state it is animal cruelty to shoot dogs with paintball guns and pellet guns and you can be fined heavily. Is there not some way the dogs can just disappear?

This is a perfect and ideal situation for taking the pooches to the next county's humane society animal shelter. That way they have the chance of being adopted by a real family who actually cares about them.

If your neighbors ask if you've seen their dog: "Well gosh, not recently. But you know, I did see it chasing a little weinerdog earlier this morning. They went that way....."

neighbor came and got her doggie...
she is quite upset and thanked us a lot...
she appreciated us keeping her dog safe; was upset
tho that her dog pushed out her screen and got out...

she offered to pay us for any damage to the chicken..we said its ok..
as long as it doesnt happen again we are good...she was upset that
their dog hurt our chicken...

she seemed very nice..said the dog is getting kennel time...lol..

but now that that issue is taken care of...now back to the not so nice neighbors..

Based on your neighbors "pressumed" chosen line of work and apparent lack of concern from the police department, I would probably capture their little dog (s) and as someone else suggested and take it to the pound. And, as also suggested, just keep quiet about it. I would do that everytime you could get your hands on a dog in your yard that does not belong there. Either calling the dog officer or bringing it right to the pound. Chances are good, if the current dog dissapears, they will just get another one, but if they continuously dissapear, maybe they will decide to get an indoor pet. Best wishes for you. It is a tough situation.

The one-time offender - I appreciate that you understand that sometimes they get out, no matter what you do to keep them in, and didn't fly off the handle. (Some people wouldn't be quite so kind). The other one.... I also vote for the humane society in another county far, far away. "Nope, haven't seen him for a few days. I have no idea where he could be by now."

I didn't think you had a fence either. I was going to suggest T posts and attach some metal wire fencing .I have fencing that goes from one side of my house all along the property line,and then back up to the other side of the house.

For the dog I think the easiest thing is just to quickly make the dog disappear one day.No need to deal with AC or the police or talking to the nasty neighbor.Get rid of any animal that comes on your property and causes problems. I too give a chance for accidental escapes,but only one time if no serious harm is done. If it kills then sorry not being nice even the first time.

yeah my yard is fenced..my dog rarely gets out..but when he does..he's GONE..we have to go look...but normally he's inside the fence ON a tie out...

per my chickens; they have a run and a coop...

the ones they are attacking are the "babies" they are like 3 months old..they fly out the top of the run to free range in OUR yard in the evenings and the mornings...
the dogs come to the opposite side of the house ...to get the chickens..IN my yard...

so I shouldnt have to even fence in my other lot..they should tie up their dog..control it..period...
