Neighbors Dog Massacred My flock

I lost 14 adult Chickens today.
I'm so devastated I don't even know where to begin.
We have a security camera and at 5:30 this morning a Neighbor's Dog, a Hunting Pointer, Rammed the fenced Run over and over until he got a small opening (still no clue how it fit through) and got into the run and Killed 13 hens and my 1yr old Cuckoo Maran Rooster.

We made a police report. When he saw the cops at our house he came over and admitted it plus we showed the video. He said let him know how much and he will pay.

But where do I even begin!? This was so shocking and traumatic.
Do I charge for the repair to the fence also?
How much per chicken? I also had Marans.
Ages from 1yr old to 3yrs old

I guess I'm looking for advice on how to proceed.

A hundred dollars should replace the birds.
I'd ask him to replace the birds and pay for the repairs to the run that the dog did.

So sorry. That's awful. Wait until you calm down and have a bit to think about it before you list amounts. The owner should be responsible for ALL damages.

Sorry for your loss, it's always shocking when the food chain of nature happens close to home.
How did it tear a hole in the coop? Were you gone or asleep? I'd calm down and have him pay for replacements and repairs. Don't pad the cost with emotion, he's trying to do the right thing, you should too. be fair.

I Still have my Easter Egger Rooster and 3 Hens as he was in a different area and coop. I received 3 Hens from a neighbor.

No fenced yard but now I think that will be on a priority list.

Look on CL for what breeds and ages yours were or comparable birds. Charge that plus price of materials to repair. And if you want (I would) tack on a couple hours labor cost. $10 or $15 a hour.
IMO that's fair and its what courts would decide if they were involved.
