Neighbors dogs in coop. UPDATE! 2nd time. 911/charges/court today

First off sorry for your loss . Don't go to you neighbors your are having a dispute withs door with a gun. I would insist that animal control/police cite him . file in small claims. Have animal control or the sherriff's department inform him that the dogs will be shot if caught if found in your chicken again. I once had to have a police officer inform a neighbor that if they or their kids got in my yard they would be charged with tresspass. Personally I use a bb gun to send dogs home when they are in the yard . If they are the act of chasing/killing birds or livestock they don't get that option

You don't need a lawyer just take the letter and all your pictures to smalls claims court. The judge doesn't need a lawyer to tell him how to do his job especially with that letter. The judge is going to hand him is A@@ and how cocky he is will probably make it even worse for him...

You know the funny thing is he will probably piss off the judge at the start. As cocky as the letter was he will most likely be that cocky in court.

That's exactly what happened when I took my neighbors to court. The wife even stupidly told the judge that I was only trying to get her to pay for the chickens that their dogs killed as revenge for the time she stole my cat. She also told the judge that I was mean and really scared her the time she "borrowed" a horse from my property without permission because I went to her house and yelled at her and took it back. The look on the judge's face was priceless. If you give those type of people enough rope, they will hang themselves with it. BTW yes, my neighbors could be the stupidist people on the planet. Unfortunately, they have spawned and have kids and granchildren. It's a real shame people like that breed. They have a daughter that is a real winner too.

I am very sorry for your loss.....I Live in a small farm town and around here if a dog is caught trying to kill live stock, you can shoot them on the spot. Have you thought of a non lethal bullet?...just enough to give them a good sting in back end! Definately get a electric fence.....Good luck!

My favorite hang yourself with the judge was the landlady who actually said to the judge "How long is this going to take? I have things to do and places to be." Boy did the judge love that one. She was cocky and thought that she was in the right since she was a real estate agent. She accused us of drug use and a breaking stuff in the apartment. Funny thing was she wasn't up to code. Had the code enforcer in and she was violating several laws by having all of the common area lights and electric on our meter. She really loved when the electric company turned off the electric and refused to restore service till she fixed the common use areas onto a separate meter that she had to either pay herself or split between both apartments. She also loved it when the borough told her she had a few thousand in fines since she had not had the place reinspected and had not painted in 3 years. (all rentals have to have fresh paint before a new tenet can move in and you have to have a yearly U&O cert along with a recertification whenever a tenet moves out but before a new one moves in.
Her husband called us a few months after all was settled. He apologized because for his wife. He stated that the girls were evicted because they pulled the same stuff with the next tenets. Also the police being called for a loud party at 4 am didn't help. They got busted for drugs when the police arrived because you could smell the pot in the hallway downstairs.

OMG. Remind me not to move to Nebraska. What IDIOTS!!!!!! I think you showed amazing restraint. I would have went to jail when she "borrowed" my horse and stole my cat.

Actually, the court system worked. The county Sheriff's Deat was wonderful. Even the Constable was great. The City Attorney's office was a pain in the butt, but even they worked out somewhat in the end. That's why I always tell people to persue through law enforcement and small claims when bad neighbors cost you pets and money.

Yeah there are some real "winners" that get taken to small claims.
The guy I took called the judge and claimed he couldn't get out of work and swore he was going to show at the next date set.
I ended up sitting the court room waiting for him for 10 mintues. Judge finally started it and ruled for me. judge was not happy. You do not lie to that lady.

chickfill let us know what happens.
