First, let me defend my grand son. He was cleaning a coop went this happened, went he heard the ruckus he came out to see what was going on. To late the roo was already dead.
Had I known what she wanted the knive for, I would have given her my skining knive to start with. All of my grand childern taught to butcher and dress not only chickens but any animal. Had she had her 22 rifle, she would have shot the roo. (She wa given a 410 this year for Christmas. And yes she can shoot, she was taught by her Father, a federal kaw officer and myself.) As for the neighbor, he knows what would happen if any of his dogs come on my property, so why should a mean chicken be any different. We raise our chickens for the eggs and meat. We also have other animals which we eat. Any predator two or four legged takes his chances trying for any of my animals.
