Hi everyone! Im hoping someone has an idea for my problem. Its my next door neighbors rooster. He is free range 24/7. (Oh! Btw, i love my neighbor and we get along very well)
Anyhow, her roo has discovered my girls. Who free range only when im home. He comes over to my yard and chases my girls. He tries to attack them.
Ive tried putting the sprinkler at the edge of the yard, but hate the water waste. Ive chased him back home. Ive talked to my neighbor but she says just chase him back.
Problem is, im tired of having to chase him back home every five mins.
Help!!

Your neighbor needs to keep him home, period. This is no different than allowing any other animal to run amuck. Politely but firmly tell her it is a problem and she needs to address it......or fence him out, which is easier said than done

If what I think is going on is, then soon the neighbor will not be the only one needing to take more responsibility.

"Good fences make good neighbors." Robert Frost. He was so right! Electrified poultry netting might work, or the 48" high goat fencing (Redbrand) with electric on top, making it about five ft. tall. Many breeds of chicken won't fly over it, although some might. You and your neighbor should discuss how to manage your flocks, now that you both have chickens. In general, separation will be best, but a pleasant conversation may really help define how you want to continue. Mary
