If the dog is friendly catch it and and use some of that hair color that sprays on, hot pink should do it. Once had a neighbor that let his"wouldn't hurt a fly" Chow run loose. He looked real good with a Poodle clip and was never back.

!!! Loved that, great advice. marrie

you need to be real careful putting coloured hair spray on the dog that may open up a whole other can of legal worms..

you need to remember that even though they will deny over and over there is the "good ole boys club" when it comes to police officers...and yes this is a stereo type I know I know...not every officer is in this crowd so please dont flog me...lol...

My friend married a cop..we were in her car and she was caught for speeding and a seatbelt fine and when the officer asked her for her licence and insurance she also slipped her husbands business card in there and once the officer reviewed the documents she provided he asked her if her husband was an officer and she replied yes with Toronto police he let her off with a warning..This was a york region officer..so its not like they were even part of the same force...

play it smart...play by the laws....take pictures, video is better...cal animal control and document it for your records...remember to cover your backside..if you have already talked to this officer about the actions of his dog then i would recomend sending a letter and keep a copy for your records...his job aside..if he was a grocery clerk would you go to the store owner about the dog..i am guessing no..so i would follow the same rule with the officer dont go to his comanding officer let the animal control lay any charges that may be laid...and if the animal control will not lay charges then take it up with the city thats when you bring all your evidence that you have been gathering to cover your backside, take it to the mayors office and bring it to thier attention...thats just IMHO...my 2cents worth

I say catch the dog and take him to the humane soc.. each and every time he comes to your yard--if he is friendly--if not call animal control or use a trap to catch him. He will have to bail the dog out, provide proof of shots etc.. Here it goes up each time your dog is bailed out.. Take pictures of him on your property--a video is even better.. keep it in a safe place.

Here (in the country) I would shoot, shovel and shut up.. SSS after the second warning..

forget about the cute poodle clip i would be painting a target on the dog to get a point across however it seems the dog has done no harm to you flock right?
if it was i shoot, shovel, and shut up

but i do tell my kids i feel bad for dogs with parents who dont take good care of them letting your dog roam is aking for them to get hurt

MJS, As a former officer of the law, I can tell you that I went through a heck of a lot more training and screening and background investigating than any grocery store clerk, and I worked a lot harder to GET my job as a Deputy Sheriff, because is a sacred trust that is held to a higher standard and is not supposed to be abused. Those who abuse their position, and do not uphold the oath and the sacred trust, are a blight on the badge and the reason that officers of the law have such a difficult job gaining the trust of the public. If he is behaving in a manner that is abusive or is even perceived as ,"bullying", then they need to report him so he can be removed like a cancer, before he spreads and damages the department. (No offence to store clerks)

We use a airsoft gun it keeps em out, but yea I would call animal control because not just your chickens are in danger the dog is in danger of getting hit by a car or shot at. Its better if the dog was put in a home where the owner cared.

This is in particular true of South Carolina. I could tell stories for hours Many are hotheads that bully citizens. One story is that an officer was charged with animal cruelty because he chained 12 dogs behinds his home and "forgot" to feed them or give water for a week. Some were found dead. His initial punishment was 24 hours of community service and a two week suspension. Several citizens complained so they fired him and surprisingly he was rehired at a local town in the same county about 5min away.

If it were me that were charged with above crime I would have gotten a few years in prison as some locals nearby did. This is just a minor story there are a few much worse than that.

My suggestion would be to get some video and if you have trouble with him using authority on you as revenge turn that video over to your local news station. True not all cops are bad as I have two cousins that are in LE and they are very friendly to most everyone and genuinely want the job because they enjoy helping people.
