Neighbor's unaltered cats driving me nuts!

I had a problem similar to yours

so I rented a couple of racoon traps from animal control and baited them with tuna fish. I no longer have the problem and someone else now has newly fixed pet kitties!

PS because I can not stop there I am going to call animal control on someone I know who has 10 unaltered cats right now inside and outside ..the house is digusting and a health hazard and the yard is full of breeding mean cats

I can not see animals suffer it is just too sad and by letting domestic cats run wild with out altering them you are causing more suffering that needed

I agree with you 100%!!

I have a neighbor who believes that altering takes the aggression out of their mousers. That is bologna! I have two altered cats who regularly leave me "gifts" of dead birds

on my front porch (though amazingly leave the chickie-poos alone). A fixed cat can still be an effective mouser, plus it will be healthier and live longer!

Get those kitties fixed!

Thanks guys!

I have always had altered male and female mousers in my barn...they did a fine job. I refuse to use poisons near my horses and children. Never had a huge mouse/rat problem either.

When I needed another kitten I went to the spca where there are literally millions available...due to someone else's neglect.

I love cats! and want one so badly! I will adopt when we are ready and only a neutered cat ..

and a mouser is a mouser ..both cats and dogs either are or they are not! they love bringing "gifts" to their humans and it has NOTHING to do with genitalia ..in fact I think they are less distracted an more apt to bring you gifts if they are not obsessed with their sex drive!

you are most welcome Sallyschickens!

Get a trap and set it somewhere in your yard that she cant see. Put an open can of food in it. My dad said he caught 20+ cats this way that use to roam all over our yard 20+ years ago.
Seemed to work as I never saw any around our yard after that..

I would dispatch the untamed, feral cats one by one, with a .22 and neuter or spay the friendlier ones.

We would shoot down any mean cats and I remember Dad and I shot down 15 mean cats one year and had to treat our queens one by one. Also, we gave away friendly kittens to good homes or somone that wants mousers. The sickly kittens were put down, mostly due to distemper. Knock on wood but we never had any rabies.

I like the live traps and taking them to the shelter. She doesn't seem to care about them, so probably won't miss them. The shelter will probably euthanize the unfriendly ones and adopt out the nice ones.
