Nest Blob?

I will also say, while antibiotics can help deal with the infection, it often flares up again after a while so while she won't make your other birds sick, culling is probably still the best idea as she will more likely than not go downhill even if treated and she probably won't lay normal eggs again if that matters. It's usually a symptom of a larger problem rather than merely an infection and the problems that cause it generally aren't treatable

x2. I've successfully treated bacterial salpingitis with antibiotics but if eggs are the main priority, the bird I treated has not laid again at all since the 2nd flare up last year (the 1st was the year prior).

I did not do any extra cleaning or make any changes in husbandry, and no other bird in my flock has come down with salpingitis.

It isn't contagious. I have one hen that had it two years ago, she doesn't lay but is healthy otherwise.

I did a couple of rounds of amoxicillin, two rounds of turmeric paste for everyone (best to do this in summer as turmeric is a blood thinner), and I brewed echinacea tea and gave as water every other day

Can a hen that has passed a lash egg subsequently lay a "normal" egg?
Sometimes, it isn't impossible, it's just more often than not the things that cause them to lay lash eggs also mess up their ovary. It's possible that you got lucky and the lash egg was a one time glitch but I'd keep a close eye on things

Yes, they can.

In the case of my FBCM, she laid a lash egg maybe 3 years ago, I treated her with antibiotics, she resumed laying and produced a few normal eggs later that season (though she's never been a great layer). No more lash eggs that season. Went through fall molt and then laid a few more eggs and another lash egg the following season. I treated her again and she has not laid since then.
