Nest Box Liners

Sorry it took so long to get a pic. We got really busy. We don't have the perch installed for them to hop on before getting in the nest boxes. We may trim the tub

at the top to make more room for getting in & out. Roosts on top are temporary. They already need wider/ bigger ones.

how do you clean one of those mats after they'd been poo'ed in a bunch,,much easier to use straw on top of something easy to clean, I am finishing up my coop build, I bought 4 Harris stainless steel nesting boxes, they have a pull out base, obviously being SS a breeze to clean.. Im planning on packing straw in there. short of buying boxes like ones I did, linoleum is easy to wipe up

You hose them off, dip in bleach water, and dry. Back in they go

Hi Tiggersmom,

We've been using the plastic liners and completely love them. They are so easy to keep clean.

This coop is great too, but I am not sure how well it will do through an Ohio winter. I believe we are going to look for something a little less drafty.

Thanks so much for the input.

I would like to line the nest boxes with something to create a barrier between the wood and nesting substrate. Any suggestions for what material might work the best?
Nest boxes
In my nest boxes I fold a feed bag to fit (nest boxes are 1 ft³). When a bag gets soiled; fold a new one; pop out the soiled; pop in the new. Feed bags are a nylon mesh bag.
Frozen poop just peels off in below freezing temperatures and just flakes off in summer when left out in the sun to bake and dry.

I have 65 trips around the sun it is the best method I have stumbled upon.

Make sure the twine is removed from the open end of the bag it can get tangled around your birds.
