Nesting box issues

How do I get my 15 pullets to stop using the nesting boxes for their bathroom? Yes my coop is very clean and they have TONS of space. I guess they just want their privacy but the nesting boxes are for eggs not poo. Nobody has started laying yet but they are getting very close to POL

Maybe you put the nest boxes in too soon? Is there a way that you can block them off until they are actually laying? Whenever it looks like mine are just 'getting comfortable' in the nest boxes, I just take them out & move them somewhere else. I've only had this issue at roosting time & only with the hens that are older (lazier?).

IF your girls are not laying yet, consider blocking the nestboxes. If you have several, at least block all but one. That should reduce cleaning to one.
