How high off of the ground should my nest boxes be?

I have been told that I need to keep the height of the nest boxes lower than the roost.

- thinking in the last bit you mean lower than the roosts? If that is what you meant, you are right - instinct is to roost in the highest point and if the boxes are higher than the roosts it will tempt them to roost in the boxes. That being said - you don't "have" to have them any height off the floor. Your birds will happily nest at floor level - the nests being up off the ground is about human convenience as it means not having to bend down and get to floor level to gather the eggs. So, put the boxes at a comfortable height for you and lower than your roosts.
