This chicken is not dead

No it didn't lose its head, nor is it a zombie chicken
Not any kind of chicken - it's clearly a Lesser Spotted Welsh Valley Haggis. The round shape, lack of tartan patterning and even-lengthed legs (for running down the valleys instead of around hill or mountainsides) are all key ID features.

I thought they were extinct!

The pretty girl in front, in the 1st picture. Is she a legbar mix maybe? She sure has the look with her floppy comb and crest.
Ah that's Llandeilo; she's half Penedesenca, a quarter Swedish Flower or Araucana (because the crest must have come from the male side, and all the boys with crests are hybrids of one or other of those), and a quarter serendipity :D This is what she looks like at her best

She's been quite ill recently, laid a LOT of soft shell eggs, and I really thought she was not going to make it, but hey, wrong again; she seems to have turned the corner a couple of weeks back, and now is looking really good again. She'll be 2 next month.

She is gorgeous! I'm glad she is recuperating.
