Nesting box question

I have heard a good way to keep chickens from pooping in the nesting box was not to introduce them to it too early. My little ones are 10 to 11 weeks old. We have the nesting boxes closed off. When should we open them?

I open mine at about sixteen weeks. I might wait till eighteen for breeds/varieties that usually won't begin to lay until twenty weeks or later.

Make sure your nests are lower in height than the roosts.
