Anyone have a picture of how they did such a thing?? Coop will be raised 30" off the ground.. Roughly the full height of my 2yr old. My 4yr old will most likely want to collect eggs and help-- so I thought opening nesting boxes from the "back" of them vs something that lifts up "top" may be better..?

If you go on my coop page there’s a picture of mine which I think is what you’re describing.

Yay! If you want any closer pictures or angles or anything, just let me know.
ITs dark out now but I can get some for you tomorrow.

Thank you!! Yours seems pretty straight forward with it being mounted on the outside, looks like a good lip on the edge so eggs dont fall out when you open the door.

You will be happy with side access. Ours are top access. IT is very heavy and little ones can not see in.
That was exactly my thought process!!! I was thinking too if I do side access, then the top I can create some sort of insert fodder tray and get some weed/greens growing for the girls that I can swap in and out :)

I am totally over engineering this! LOL

Definitely better for kids to gather.....and for weather tightness if exposed to rain/snow.

Here's mine, might not fit your coop configuration:
