Nesting boxes

I have EE's, Marans, and a few oddballs. My polish are kept separate as the bigger girls pull the feathers off their heads. A bald polish is not a pretty sight. They are goofy, and by far my favorite birds. When I walk to the mailbox I have to be careful as they go along, flapping and dashing around my legs.

Lola has adapted by just staying to herself mostly. Although like yours, she is a pet who hangs out in the yard with us so I think the other hens pick on her because they are jelous! Lol.

Definitely pets over here. The other gals each lay an egg a day in a next box, but the polish lay an egg whenever and wherever they wish. Which is never in their boxes. We go on egg hunts, and they are always somewhere silly. Behind a door, under a bush....

That is good to know . Lola laid her 1st egg 2 weeks ago on exactly 20 weeks in the poop box during the night. Then 5 days later I found another in the nesting box. The funny thing is I have NEVER seen her in the nesting boxes. I didn't think she even knew they were there. We are assuming we will probably never find another egg from her!

We had no idea that DoDo was even laying until I pulled a bale of hay and found a huge stash of eggs. I tightened up the bales so she couldn't drop them down between anymore, and the game of find the eggs started.

That's funny. Yesterday we were sitting by the coop just enjoying watching the hens when my husband said, " just imagine if all 13 birds were crested polish!" Now that would be a show!!
It was great talking to you. Have a good night, -Nikki
