netting over the top of run

Your bad! LOL

Does the plastic deer netting keep racoons from getting in? We we're thinking of doing that, but were afraid they tear through it. We also have lots of squirrels. I'm thinking of covering ours were chicken wire.

I have a question about the netting on the top, we wanted to do that too but we live in Uper NY where winters and Heavy snow is common like the sun coming out. Some times we get a good 4 ft over nite. So my question is how does it hold up and or do you need to remove it for winter??

we just use support poles to hold up the netting it works fine for us.We get alot of snow and freezing rain here. Most of the snow just falls right on thru the freezing rain is more of an issue but, we just shake it off in the morning. THe netting sags alittle but bounces right back. When we remodel the pen we're going to put support beams across the top so it won't sag at all and will hold up to the heaviest snows without any worries.Hope this helps

We came across a recycle bin with gill net in it at the local landfill... it was free, it is freakin' huge, and covered the whole run. Doesn't keep the little birds out, but keeps the chickens from being hauled off by the eagles.
