Neurological problems in a silkie?

i just got my first silkies today, they are abour 4 weeks and one shakes his head too. I'm wondering if he's okay or if I should give him vitamins?

I had a silkie that did the same thing. I am happy to say that it DID out grow it. I think by about 2 mos it never did it anymore.

One of my buff silkies does this as well....my first thought when it started (at about 3 weeks old) was that it must be neurological. My chicks are now 14 weeks old and it still does it. Kind of freaks me out. It doesn't have any other "issues"...just a really weird twitch

I had asked this question a while back, myself. I have 3 silkies that are now 4 months old, but even as little tiny babies, they woud do the head thing. I haven't noticed it as much now as I did then, but I assume it is a silkie thing, as only my silkies do it. Glad to know it's not just my silkies... although I do wonder what it is.

My buff silkie started it about 3 wks or so when the feathers on the side of beak grew out where it obstucted his view.

After my post above, I trimmed the feathers back so he could see and the head shaking stopped.

Now that the feathers are growing out again and partially blocking his view, he's head shaking a little again.

I'm going to trim him again. I think he's much happier being able to see. He takes his job of protecting his two girls very seriously.

I'm glad I saw this post, I was just about to make one similar to this one.
I have one silkie that started it at about a week old. They're three weeks old now. All the babies shake their head but this one will shake and then will have a slow bob like it's dizzy. The only way I can think of to describe it is like when a person gets vertigo and their head spins. Does that make sense? Otherwise, she (I hope it's a she

) is healthy and as active as the rest.

That's what mine used to do. Does yours have feathers covering the eyes or blocking some of the vision?

If so, try trimming them back so the vision isn't obstructed and see if that makes a difference.
