Nevadans?

Awww bummer! We should have dallied a little longer. I haven't had a chance to try the machine out yet but I'm going to read the book that came with it tonight to check out recipes and how to operate it. I'll probably wait til after the memorial though. I have so much left to do!!!

Ron! That's terrible!

I've never tried to keep silkies with full-size fowl but yeah Poppy was very into keeping other roos away from his girls. Time to make chicken stew?

Sunny, if you go to allrecipes.com there are a TON of really creative bread machine recipes on there.

Missy, you make me feel like all my neighbors are bad, lol!! Noo, I like some of them. Just not directly left and directly right.
Elizabeth, I used to have a bunch of silkies running with the big guys, and they do fine. With your setup, they wouldnt need any other extra care. I say keep them! Theyre fun, and a cool new expirience.
Ron, Im so sorry.

Yeah, Poppy is very territorial! He mostly doesn't even like the already grown hens I had when I got him; although they don't fight, he will chase them away if they get too close to him. He's fine with the one's that were juveniles when he got here.

No stew in little red's future - he was already stiff when I found him.

Thanks everyone for the hugs, etc.

Thanks everyone.

I can't fix her. I'm not sure if it's internal laying or perhaps something else. Her stomach is swollen. I put her in the sink and soaked her and massaged her. Once she relaxed I put KY on my fingers and I can not find an egg in there at all. Nada. But her stomach is swollen for sure. She is under stress too, she's losing her feathers left and fight. I couldn't believe how much fell off in the sink. I'm at a loss on what to do now.

So sorry Sheryl! I wish I had an answer for you. Poor girl!

Thanks for the book Missy. I looked up egg binding and all it said was not enough calcium and another mineral but I don't think that's the issue. I always have oyster shell in there plus all my customers saves the egg shells for me and I put that in there too. I don't run out ever. They do get more protein with the flock raiser but I must have it because of the ducks and more protein produces bigger eggs along with extra water as well.

I soaked her for an hour tonight and massaged her as much as she would let me. I think it might have moved but it also may just be hopeful thinking too. The placebo effect. She's relaxing in the brooder for the night but I'm going to put her back in with the girls in the am so they don't forget she belongs there.
