Nevadans?

Good luck on your hatch Sheryl! Lol, you do seem to have a lot of henhouse drama. We need to add a couple zen chicks to your group so they can teach the others.
Okay guys, I've got 16 chicks this morning and two more pipped. I'm really pleased with the outcome, but I don't think one of the chicks is going to make it. He's a little disfigured, but he's a fighter. We'll see.
Sorry the post is short. Everyone was on the computer, and I got desperate and waited the ten minutes to get byc to load on my phone. But it does load eventually!! WOO! Lol I can't find the enter button on this thing. @h

Congrats on the babies! That's a good rate. How many eggs fit in your bator?

Very nice hatching Lacey!!! Way to go!!

LOL if we get a couple of zen chicks then I think my chickens will change them instead.

Sunny, how's the project going on your Maran's going? I know you posted a while back you're almost ready for some culls, I'm so ready to see the birds as well. I haven't heard from Genny so I'm not sure about her having an EE for me this year so perhaps if you have an extra one then I'll be more than happy to get one from you?

YUP! That's the place. Chaplinville. LOL
For those who don't know what Kim means by Chaplinville. Back in the old days of silent movies, before everything went "Hollywood", Charlie Chaplin had a movie studio in Niles.

Sounds like an awesome hatch, Lacey! Can't wait for pics!

Sheryl are you looking for an EE pullet? My friend has 32 eggs of mine in his 'bator right now, and since I have 9 EE hens at least some of them will be EEs, well EEs x Black Ameraucana since that is what my roosters are. They should be hatching in another week or so...

Yep. I should know which marans I am going to cull in about a month or so. Not sure if I'll have any extra EEs anytime soon though. I think Ron's hatch will be a better bet. I only have a few and I don't really want to let any more of them go, at this stage anyway. When I know for sure which ones are OEs vs EEs Missy gets one of the OEs and I know I promised a couple of EEs to folks already. Need to find my notes. That doesn't leave me with a lot left over so I'm gonna keep what's left, til I hatch more anyway.

Ron don't forget I want some Dels. I'd love 3 or 5 if you get that many hatching.

That's not a typo. I meant "or", not "to". I don't like the number 4.

And thanks for explaining the Chaplinville comment. I was thinking "Wait, didn't they just say Niles?".

You guys need to come out for Charlie Chaplin Day! I'll even take you to the Devil's Workshop if it's still there. Trust me, not what it sounds like it would be. LOL

I believe I read on here that chickens don't have capsaicin receptors, and that some people put cayenne pepper in their feed to increase egg production? Is this true? I have two dogs that like to eat chicken food. I'm trying to tally how many eggs we get for a bag of feed, and it doesn't really help when the dogs squeeze through the chicken door and eat the food. So I figured I'd pepper it up.
