Nevadans?

Thanks Elizabeth and Ron. The Mucinex D is starting to work a bit I'm only having minimal throbbing right now in the ear and less pressure in the neck. I so want to go to the potluck but I can't risk it.

Mandy, Tyler said he also can't make it Saturday. I'm thinking it's because of the same rabbit show Seth is going to.

Missy, I read online it can take up to 10 days for coryza to infect a full flock. Please hang in there. I just heard the other day it can travel from mice going from 1 chicken area to another. I never heard anything like it before and I did have mice last year but none of my chickens got sick like that. I only had worms and Northern Mites. Is there a possibility you have mice in your house? Put the cayenne back in the chicken feed so the mice can't eat it. It's a great deterrent for them.

Sheryl and Mandy I sure hope you folks feel better soon. I suspect the eye drops are already starting to work for your eyes Mandy? They always helped my allergies greatly. Boy do they burn though!! Sheryl that so stinks!!! I hope they find a way to get this infection of yours under control soon!

Ron sorry one of your new tenants stung you! I hope you are like me and don't get a reaction at all!

Seth and Tyler, I hope you have fun at the rabbit show!

Missy I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this! This is a fear we all have since we hear these stories often on BYC. It's even worse watching someone we care about having to go through this nightmare!!! We have had quite a few folks sign up for our little chick fund for Missy and Russell. You folks are amazing!!! Won't name names yet since some folks on here just can't spare a donation right now and I don't want to make anyone feel bad but we will all sign a card to deliver with the baby chicks when they arrive so Missy and Russell will know who donated.

Well the potluck is looking a bit smaller now but that works for Steve and I. We will be there with plenty of Fajitas and meringue cookies (plain, no nuts) for those that can still make it! I just need to run to the store tomorrow for peppers and onions to grill plus avocados and sour cream. Steve likes to throw in a few black beans with his fajitas so I might bring those as well. I forget about all the extras that come with fajitas! Well at least the way we make them. I like to give folks plenty of choices and am not such a stickler for tradition when it come to stuff like this. I say throw on whatever you like!

Looking forward to seeing you again Mandy and meeting your Hubby as well. Really wanting to see the future site for the Farmer's Market too. See ya Saturday!

Sheryl, I do have a problem with mice in my house. It's such an old house that we battle them every fall and winter. I didn't think they got in as far as the chicks were... they usually stay in the breezeway and laundry room. But that's not saying they didn't.

Sunny, thanks so much for everything. And thanks to everyone who can and cannot help out. Your love means so much. I'm still hoping and praying that no replacements are needed, though.

Ron, I'm so intrigued on your bee project. Though I still don't want to own bees. Chickens don't hurt as badly when they peck. But part of me is thinking... how much cooler would this little backyard be with BEES???

Oh, and I never signed up for a potluck item, did I? Hmmmm can everyone have chocolate? I'm thinking of doing a gluten-free black forest cake.

Update: the ameraucanas get to live another day. We checked them tonight, and all passed the test except for two, who had a nearly imperceptible clicking breath. So they're staying in the quarantine room with plenty of food and Sulmet water. My hopes are up, but they're realistic as well. There were bloody poops in the kennel brooder this morning.

And just to lighten the mood here...

I give you Century, Balut, and Roast, on their first swim ever. I'd have pics of the new chicks, but I'm kind of distancing myself right now, so I haven't rushed out to snap any pics.

My kids are in the poultry club, and my son is in the shooting club (9 and up) up here they meet on the weekends at the Ice House range on Toll rd.

HI SagebrushMama! this is Julie, Heather and KC are in the Shooting club too! Lou is my hubby and the other Shotgun instructor! Your kids did REALLY well at the 4-H Leader show! I hope they had fun! I hope you are planning on showing to the livestock show aplanned in August in Yerington too!

How can I reach your 4-H poultry leader? Our Poultry Fancier's club is hosting a poultry swap every month at various feed stores and we wanted to invite your kids to come out. Actually Heather will be doing a 4-H Showmanship clinic/demonstration(she doesn't know yet!) at the next swap in May at One Stop Feed and More on Glendale avenue in Sparks. This Swap will be on Sunday.` I want to talk with your leader, also she had talked about doing a little show in Carson that we should discuss. Good to see you here!

PS I have chicks hatching almost weekly so if a 4-Her needs some birds have them contact me too!

Thanks Sunny for the get well wishes.

Missy, way so cute! I remember when Mo and Harmony were that little. They will triple their weight if not more when they are a month old. I can't believe how fast they grow. I'm a good prayer with people and other living things.

I go into lock down Monday with my ducks. Getting excited again. Wynnie is still sitting away on her eggs. She takes a break once a day. I'm hoping she can hang in there for another week to hatch the 4 she has. I only candled the eggs in the incubator once and 13 out of the 14 eggs were growing. I'll candle again on Monday to see how it is. All 4 of Wynnie's are growing as well. I've candled hers twice now when she takes her break. Her breaks are becoming shorter now. Let's keep hoping she hangs in there.

Sunny My eyes are a little better. I should probably not be online so much actually as they only really feel better when they're closed. We can't wait to see you Saturday either!

Missy I'm glad to hear things are going a bit better. I hope your little ones hang in there. OMG did you say black forest cake? I knew I loved you. The ducks are adorable.

OK time for some eye rest. Night everyone

Missy those little duckies are so cute!!! Yes Black Forest cake sounds good. I'm not into chocolate much but Steve loves it! There are times when something like that really hits the spot for me as well.

So we have 2 desserts,1 salad and 1 main dish, yes? That leaves side dishes, drinks, ice, plastic ware, plates, cups and napkins yes?

I'll bring a side dish as well... a fruit salad or fruit tray. Well, fruit for sure. Strawberries should be coming on sale, yes? I haven't been to the store in awhile. We can also split up the picnicware assignment. I have a bunch of red Solo cups here that haven't been transplanted into yet. But um... can everyone save them? I can reuse them, and I don't think the plants will care.

Ok me: black forest cake and something with a spectacular array of fruit. And cups.

As for drinks, I don't let my kids drink caffeine, and all of us avoid sugary drinks, and we don't drink alcohol. And a lot of punch like Tampico and Sunny Delight have gluten. So I can just bring drinks for my family. But if anyone else feels like having a beer or something, that's not going to make anyone in my family feel uncomfortable.

Hello everyone! I'm sorry to hear all the things that are going awry, as far as personal and animal health goes. I wish everyone speedy recoveries!

Missy, I hope you're hanging in okay, we are definitely pulling for you, your birds, and your family at our house. Your ducklings are irresistibly adorable... I think someday we will have to get some. AND, thanks for the gardening advice, I'm following along, so hopefully we can have some homegrown veggies this summer. It is the first time for us to have a garden at our house, and I really don't know what I'm doing.

I'm excited for this Farmer's market to come together! I can't make to it the potluck this weekend, we just have so much going on. I'm in the writing stage of my thesis so I can graduate in May. I would love to come buy your produce and goods this summer, though!

Seth, are you going to be showing your rabbits at the show? Hope it goes well! It's good to hear you enjoyed your trip to Mexico and got a lot accomplished.

Congrats on the bees, Ron! I love bees! Someone was telling us we need to get some, and honestly I love bees, but I actually can't eat honey. I have some kind of aversion to it, it just makes me feel "off" when I consume it, so I'm not sure if bees are for me. Although, as a biologist, I'm in love with bees and think your endeavor is awesome! Have you ever kept bees before or is it a first time project?

Our chicken family is doing really well. We moved our littlest chicks to a portioned off area in our coop weekend before last, and allowed them to integrate with the older chicks this week. The bigger chicks weren't really thrilled with the newbies at first, but they've been doing better and better each day. Our littler chicks, we got from Green's Feed Chick day, are so sweet and cuddly. I held two of them for a long time yesterday and they just loved being cuddled. They crawled right into my lap, it was a good end to a long day!
