Nevadans?

HI there....well it has taken me 2 nights to catch up on the thread!!

So sad to hear about the sick chicks and the ones you had to put down, this is probably one of the worst stories I have heard in all my years....way to close to home. Such a bummer. I had something go through and infect my young cockerels last year, upper respitory, runny noses, raspy breathing, face swelling... was fast moving killed a handful of cockerels. I sent one to the state vet lab for necropsy and they found nothing, no lesions, no virus...no answers. the only thing that helped was injections of Tylan 50...... saved a few and they are did fine. At the time I wondered if over crowding caused it or mice not sure.... still it is so depressing to not know what to do or how to save them or if you should keep trying.....

I want to personally thank everyone for stopping by the swap and saying hi!! It was so nice see everyone!!

I would love to come to the potluck but my daughter informed me that she has a birthday party at 2 pm tomorrow, my son and hubbie will be in VC at 4-H shooting already(I had thought I could leave them at shooting and run over for a few minutes but daughter threw a wrench in that plan!) I hope to attend a meet up in the future!

If anyone is interested I have more chicks available and the incubator is full too!! Yikes :)
Giant cochins hatched last weekend. variety of colors, rooster and one hen is lemon blue(buff over blue project variety) and other hen is Buff over black. I am getting blues, lemon blues, buffs and blacks.

SHOWGIRLS :) these are Aubrey's Petey babies! assorted colors!!! Quite the conversation starters!!! I can't wait to see pics of them as adults!!

White Americaunas this is the last one from the Easter hatch but I have more due next week, laying a pretty shade of lighter blue egg.

also have a few black bantam cochins, Malaysian serama chicks available too! A few Silkies and some started layers 3 months old...

I will have pure bred Call Ducks, Runners and Cayugas for sale in the Fall if anyone is interested.....
I have blue fawn, gray, white, and pied hopefully available.

I have new Tupperware catalogs available if you are interested just PM me.

Have a great weekend!

Have fun Seth and Tyler!!

Hope everyone is feeling better!!!
Thanks Julie. Are you coming by the show this weekend

Hi everyone! I'm finally feeling much better. The fever is gone now.

Missy, great news on the chickens and no sign of anymore of that yucky stuff going on!

Mandy, I love those babies you just got! Congrats!

Julie, you're chicks are great too! I still can't believe ugly Petey made those babies!

Tyler, good luck with your rabbit show. I hope you win several awards.

Sunny, thank you for getting the vaccine for everyone. I'm going to hold off though. I have ducklings hatching next week and weekend so there's no way I can meet up with anyone while that's going on.

Well, Leroy the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte of a rooster thought it would be funny to take on the hen Sylvia the Silver Laced Wyandotte. That boy raised his cackles and actually pecked her on her beak through the wire. She was so shocked but she did raise her cackles right away and lightly pecked him back. Boy did he run away fast. No harm was done except his ego. He hasn't approached the chickens since. We are going to keep though.

Elizabeth, I think the older chickens from Kirsten are actually Golden Laced Wyandottes. Lacey's red feather color is off from Leroy's and it actually looks more golden than red to me. Not sure what I would get from the 2 of them?

Oh and please take pictures of the get-together, I would love to see them.

If there aren't great directions associated with the vaccine, I could shoot an email to the UNR campus vet. I'm guessing he'd know the typical shelf life of a vaccine like this.

Sunny, I can pick up the vaccine whenever is most convenient for everyone to come get their doses as long as I know a day or two in advance.

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you get to enjoy the nice weather this weekend!

An answer to the question "Is there any way we can save what is unused?" would be awesome! I wanted to ask my Vet but when I mentioned the vaccine he seemed so against a lay person giving the shots that I didn't want to admit I had questions I couldn't answer.

We are looking forward to it too! See ya tomorrow (actually later today since it's past midnight now). I hope you all don't mind if I bring ice cream instead of meringues. We got a new ice cream maker and I want to play with it instead! Still no nuts and no gluten in the ice cream plus there is a lot less sugar than store brands but I did substitute with honey. I made a tropical version already and want to make another batch tomorrow. I want to make lemon blueberry but Steve wants me to make chocolate ice cream next. I haven't decided which one I'll make yet. OK I better get some sleep now since I gotta get an early start tomorrow.

Let's do next weekend then. Saturday everyone? Oh and I had planned for folks to bring their own syringes to fill up with their doses and then take them home to administer them. BTW this vaccine is given subcutaneously and not intramuscular so it is pretty easy to administer. As Stevie said just pinch a little skin up and make sure you are under the skin before injecting. Just be sure to give the shot below your fingers. We don't want anyone accidentally injecting this stuff into themselves!!! I have given many shots of insulin to my Mom and had to give myself shots in the leg for a while. I think if I can be trusted with humans I'll be fine with birds.

YEA!!!

I sure wish Aubrey were coming!!! I miss her and she is so much fun!

Today there is one all breed show plus the Silver and Havana speclity shows. Should be a busy day plus I need to find timer to hang out with my almost boyfriend. I wonder if I'll eat at all today?!?!

Hey Tyler,

I stoped by the show last night but since I've never met you I didn't get to say hi. My son wants to go again tomorrow. He thinks he'd like to show rabbits now.

OK everyone. My house is about a 1/2 mile past VC on the Reno side. There's a big gravel turn out on the east side that has a real estate sign and some voting signs. That is the top of my driveway follow the road down theres a little landing thats only like 30 feet down and you need to go left there (other roads are dirt bike only). When you get to the big Y at the bottom of the hill go right It's the big red and white house and barns setup. Park anywhere and can't wait to see everyone.

These are the best directions I can get from google. They start at the 341 junction in Reno.

4. Turn right

I don't think I could ever mind ice cream, Sunny!

I will bring my camera, Sheryl, and try to remember to take photos.

Looking forward to seeing those of you who are going to the get together! We will miss those of you who can't make it.

They are blue laced red wyandottes. I have a splash roo and a blue laced pullet from that bunch along with the black/red ones. From what I've read, the black/red ones will look very similar to the gold laced but they carry the blue gene.
