Nevadans?

Have you ever been to the Big R store in Fallon? It's on Hwy 50 just west of the main part of town. That's where I picked up my "brood" - 4 BOs, 4 RIRs and 2 Black Sex Links. All of them are in excellent health! They also had turkeys, ducks, and pheasants, though I didn't get any of them. I went back for some supplies and was going to pick up a turkey, but unfortunately, they were all gone for this year

S&W Feed in Carson City also had turkeys and ducks. Their birds all seemed to be very high quality, too.

I did...the thing is, I originally ordered a pair from North Valley Feed on Lemmon Drive...and after a few weeks I called and inquired, and they got very snippy and told me they hadn't yet sent in the order because they were waiting for more...well, okay. I can wait. It's since been almost three months since I put in my order and still no phone call. Nothing! I wish they'd at least call and tell me they had canceled the order. But no. Not a word. Needless to say, they won't ever be getting my business again.

By the time I realised the North Valley staff were a bunch of losers and poor businessmen, the rest of the feed stores had already sold their stock, and there weren't any left over.

Thanks Daniel! Everyone has been calling today to wish me happy birthday even though my birthday is tomorrow. Tomorrow is going to seem pretty quiet.

These are for you Laceynoelle. Since you and I share a love of photography.

Sunset in AZ (taken from our campsite).

Piece of the East view of Grand Canyon (South Rim/East entrance, too vast to capture in pics but it's still a nice scene).

One tiny part part of Arches National Park (huge, huge, huge and amazing place).

First of all, happy early birthday! I called and confirmed my chicks were shipped today and they should arrive tomorrow. I think I'm ready for them. Got a nice, very sturdy box for them. Hopefully they won't grow out of it too soon. I will post pics as soon as I can. Not sure how long it will be before I can tear myself away from them! Very excited. My first batch!

Here are the pics I have so far. All 12 of them arrived healthy. They weren't shy at all. The polish won't shut up though. He is so loud!

This is shortly after they arrived.

This is the white crested black polish.

Here they finally settled down to sleep. I have a heating pad under one corner on low and they seem to like that and a 100 watt bulb in the other corner. If they seem to shy away from it I raise it up, but they seem ok so far.

Knemeyer, Congrats on the new little ones. When they are about 4 days old put them on pine shavings (don't use cedar) it will help a ton with the cleaning.

Our hen Heilo hatched at least the first two of her three eggs this morning. still waiting to see if the third has hatched. So far she has a 66.6% hatch rate which beats are very best by 16.6%. We had to move her inside to a cage of her own so she can raise her chicks. We will wait two or three days until the new babies are more active then we are going to give her the 3 chicks we hatched last thursday as well.

Penturner, can't wait to see pics of the new ones! I had read from another member that using pine shavings too soon wasn't good for their legs, kinda unstable. But, I'm glad you said 4 days because the other person didn't say when. The newspaper is already pretty messy. Definitely will be changing soon. Thanks!

Knemeyer, Good point on the shavings. I actually wait until they are not quite so clumsy. when they start darting around the brooder I figure they are ready for the shavings.
I will do my best to get pictures, Right now they are pretty much hiding under Momma.
